and if they disallow Russians.

People will still pay a premium to watch Federer lose 2 and 2 at 50 years old.
|
By:
I find it really sad that the era of Federer and Nadal is about to end
|
By:
I paid premium to see Rafa lose 2 and 2 at the ATP finals.

Rafa is nearly 36. how many more seasons will he play if his foot is ruining his life pleasure?
|
By:
Badosa must have missed out on 10+ straight game points now.
|
By:
It's not like they need the Russians to sell tickets or for Team Europe to win. Think it could get some bad publicity if they do invite them and some seething from PTPA if they don't but at the end of the day I don't think it matters much. Maybe they'll do some polling behind the scenes to see the lay of the land.
|
By:
edy what's your expert verdict on Rafa? I thought we were going to see him for this season, next season and a final year in 2024. but I'm too ambitious?
|
By:
I think he will make it depend on Djokovic and the slam race to an extend. If he feels like Djokovic is completely done (or if the Serb wins everything this year and has gained a most likely insurmountable lead in the slam race) he will call it a day earlier than if it's tight.
|
By:
Playing until the end of 2024 does sound rather optimistic in any case though.
|
By:
speaking of Russia, their Tennis Federation President apparently said this:

By:
also who thins Wimbledon are going to have to back down over their ban on Russian and Belarussian players?
|
By:
No point sacrificing your health for the Slam race. Alcaraz will eclipse them all by 2033 anyway.
|
By:
thinks* I get the feeling it's going to happen
|
By:
the ban will stand.
|
By:
but I also find it disgusting how this war on Ukraine is being allowed to happen by the whole world
|
By:
that's what the threat of nuclear weapon will do, but yes it's frustrating that the rest of the world (well the West anyway) hasn't come up with a plan to strangle Russia financially and pressure them into stopping.
|
By:
seems UK/Wimbledon is acting alone in banning players. There were talks about Italy doing the same and there could have been a domino effect, but that clearly isn't happening.

WTA 1000 Rome, QFs

Nobody beats Sabalenka 5 times in a row..or can Amanda prove me wrong?Thats the riddle for today, waiting for people to solve it :)

it seems Aryna solved the riddle

had a brief wobble today, but yes. Can't believe she's double the price Simona is for RG.

Sinner observive just like Mo. A person needed medical assistance in the crowd and Jannik passed on two bottles of water.

Umpire just wants the match to go on. Doesn't want any delays that it would take to get the ill fan moved out of the stadium.
|
By:
"looks like it's pretty serious" says umpire now
The rowdy Italians might have saved a person's life by refusing to let them play on. |
By:
now they're just being rowdy.
Spectator moved out of the building and they still booed Stefanos and cheered when he made a fault on 1st serve. |
By:
good odds on Shapo. Ruud has been a mug lately.
|
By:
Just noticed Shapo is growing his hair
|
By:
Shapo seething with that net cord there.
|
By:
What a mug MUGkarri :D 6-1 3-0 double break up. 5-2(30-0) double break up and still choked :O The last time I`ve seen something like that was maybe Tsurenko in China, she came back from 6-0,3-0 down.
