Sad to hear that this Argentine warrior has had to call time on his tennis career.  The fact that he unfortunately never fulfilled his potential is 100% down to his appalling  bad  luck with injuries. 2011 ranked No4, he was off for over a year with a wrist injury. He climbed the rankings after comebacks two years later to No3.   In  2009 Martin became the only player to beat
both  Rodger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the same major when he won the USA open in 2009. Thanks for that Senor at 14-1 you landed me a nice touch. Severn serious surgeries later Martin has had to call time on a career that promised so much. Many thanks for the memories big fella you were a credit to  both the sport and your nation.

will always remember, after he won the US Open, some US prick stuck a microphone in front of him, Del Potro started thanking his family etc. and the tennis guy cut him off, I thought there is no way you would do that to Federer

I think he might have said a few words in Spanish

God forbid

In my view the form he showed in the rare occasions he was fully fit he,even in the era of Federer, Nadal and Djorkovic,on a fast surface he was the best.

A great shame.

Would definitely have been a big 4 rather than big 3.
