What's the first thing a Japanese person does when visiting new places? Scout the local arcades for 40 year old games to play.

I scouted +30 year old arcade games on my most recent trip

Did you look for anything specific or just wanted a trip through the arcades?

I played a really cool arcade game as a child on a ferry to Sweden. It was one of those side-scroller beat 'em ups like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe etc., but even cooler. From the arcade to the ferry being (possibly) bomb threatened or having some mechanical problems it was quite a cool trip.

Throughout the years I've tried to find it in the MAME arcade archives every now and again, but have not found it yet.

I really like Metal Slug, but have only played on emulators and consoles. If I had played that on an arcade cabinet, I would have been very poor very quickly.

Wasn't a pure arcade place. Was an arcade room in a huge nightclub.

I think I've only played an arcade game once in me life, a football game in Italy when I was 8 (1987). I think it cost 1000 lira. I lost badly.

Why not post up separate WTA and ATP 'Hipster Challenge' threads for this. (Great name)

The pointscoring system looks pretty fair make it clear and include the links to the draws in the first post.

Remember you get loads of people who play the Suicide threads that never post in the megathreads so maybe this is something they'd enjoy getting involved in?
