Pretty nice of Guadalajara to stage the best WTA Finals in decades on short notice...and not even just because all the other finals were all rubbish.

it's been in terrible places for women's tennis for as long as I have been watching it. Doha had its charm, but they went there for the money. Istanbul was better than expected iirc, but still tennis in Turkey.

Remains 3 minutes but can only be taken during a changeover or a set break.

If the player cannot continue to the next change of ends, he will forfeit the points required to get to that change of ends/set break.

Don't like it...at all. It's a preposterously crap rule change if it comes into effect. If a sloppily prepared or wet court tries to murder a player that player will have to forfeit possibly vital games in addition to almost having been murdered? Only to counter a very miniscule, tiny, almost non-existant amount of players that possibly take breaks to break momentum before a changeover? Puh-lease!

It's creating a crap situation for legit injured and treatment needing players to counter a problem that doesn't exist.

And players will get three minutes on the potty from next year onwards. Better not be constipated.

so this was in 1995 and changes were made. I just can't see how they in this day and age will go back in time. From a health perspective it seems very bad and I'd be surprised if players don't raise a big stink about it.

Although the public, as well as many commentators, and even Korda himself, pointed out how ruthless the cramping rules were, Matsuoka didn’t think he had been unfairly treated.

“I think it is the right rule. I think they shouldn’t touch it. Cramping is one thing, you have to work out and you have to be more fit and cramping is different than pulling a muscle, so I think it is just a rule and I think I agree with the rule.”
