WTA qualies start on Monday, the main draw on Wednesday.

ATP qualies start Tuesday, main draw on Thursday.

Apart from Indian Wells there's the usual hipster tennis with challengers, women's ITFs and UTR this week.

Happy punting!

Leylah at 22s realistically seems pretty awful too.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:05 AM BST
And Barty will shine in the warm-up events and price will go down.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:06 AM BST
Osaka said about 2 weeks ago she wants to play tennis again.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/58704677

"I know I'm going to play again," Osaka told HBO show The Shop.

Adding that her return would be "probably soon", Osaka said: "I kind of have that itch again.

Given she's not playing any event this season, it'd be kinda surprising with comments like those if she doesn't play AO.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:06 AM BST
I don't know what Leylah's price should be, but it shouldn't be twice as big as Emma's.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:07 AM BST
Barty will probs shine, I imagine rules won't be anything like last year though in terms of giving her a huge edge in them.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:07 AM BST
oh, I hadn't seen those comments. AO seems likely then. I'm not her biggest fan, but tennis needs big stars so I hope she will be ok and make a fulltime (well as fulltime as it will ever be with her) return to tennis.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:08 AM BST
Both are just bad prices that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. It's hard to say what either should be, but I'm hardly convinced either are just a proven top player now, and can't say I'd be remotely interested in any price sub like 50s, and they are never gonna be higher, so always going to be bad until market gets more data on their level.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:09 AM BST
To be the prices they are you're saying they're like top 10 players in the world, I don't buy that for a second.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:09 AM BST
wonder if anyone will not play due to the vaccine mandate. Ben reckons 50% of WTA players aren't vaccinated. If that's the case and Aussies go ahead with the mandate, will be interesting to see how stubborn they are. I don't think many will sacrifice playing in Slams over it.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:10 AM BST
Leylah is more proven than Emma to me.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:11 AM BST
Someone like Wise's Anett, decent price for someone ending the season strongly. If you can get like 100/1 on her that's a good price to be on now.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:12 AM BST
Will be interesting to see what Gauff does next season. There is a feeling she's been stagnating, but apart from some flops here and there I think she's been progressing nicely.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:14 AM BST
No Azarenka in the market again Cry What do they have against her? Meanwhile they have strong contenders such as Kiki Bertens listed.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:14 AM BST
WTA latest report says 60% of players are vaccinated according to Ben. Like you I don't think many if any will skip a slam over it. See NBA where it's only really Kyrie kicking up a fuss.

Plus that doesn't mean 40% are anti-vaxxers, I think there's quite legitimate reasons tbh if you're a travelling tennis player to not have been vaccinated. Ben makes the opportunity sound easier than it is with this idea that tournaments have offered it, is true, but I kinda think getting vaccinated mid-tournament when many people feel tired/other side effects from it seems total muggery. Not everyone is from Western Europe/USA with their advanced programmes either.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:15 AM BST
Gauff always so highly rated by OR though that hard to believe her price will ever feel good.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:16 AM BST
Which tbh is probs what will happen to Raducanu forever more now. Leylah is a bit more proven like you say with her wins, but I still think she won't be anywhere near top 10 at end of next season, I can see like 20s in rank.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:17 AM BST
Ben always pusing his agendas. But if that number is not drastically changed after the off season, then that's a different story.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:18 AM BST
I said this last year but AO really need to hurry up and just set their rules. Like whatever the rules are, just set them, players need to know, and it better not get moved back a few weeks like it did this year. If players need to be vaccinated, they do like need to know that.

I haven't looked into it, but whatever the rules are for England's players in the Ashes is going to be a blueprint I imagine.
Report SamuelMertensBertens October 16, 2021 6:19 AM BST
Australia always last minute it seems Cry
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:19 AM BST
It's pushing an agenda, and seeing things through a very American lens. Eg. Ages ago now, but he was very harsh on what Schwartzman said, especially given Schwartzman's English is average to begin with.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:20 AM BST
For F1, they have moved Aus grand prix from starting season to 3rd race I think, but this is literally like 1 month difference, which you'd think makes no difference in real terms. Race also Melbourne if you don't know.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:21 AM BST
I suspect you get a lot of jockeying over what rules will be meaning it goes on forever. The thing is you just know if vaccine mandate is announced there's gonna be a push back, moaning, so they need to just get it over and done with. Maybe it's already going on though behind the scenes and we're just not privy to it publicly yet.
Report n88uk October 16, 2021 6:23 AM BST
I think there's also some theory like vaccination won't be mandatory, but unvaccinated players will have to quarantine. If that was actually the rules it would make it even more interesting on how many would say no. How many think it's worth being locked in a hotel for 2 weeks.

Especially as Vika is known to be vaccinated! Though unlike ATP, so are the top 3 favs in the market. #4 almost certainly isn't though.
