Jeff is a bit of a jerk. I reported a bug on his site through three different channels. He wouldn't even respond to any of them. I know he does this for non-profit, but you can still reply to a message imo.

some retirements were not listed under retirements. It would just say for instance 2-6 1-3 as the result instead of 2-6 1-3 RET and thus not make the list.
But when I look now this seems to have been fixed.

The out calls at Laver Cup are too low volume.

Though not universally. Some are ok. There have however also been quite a few calls where players, crowd and I didn't hear the call. Something I didn't notice to the same extend at other Hawkeye Live tournaments.

Rublev does this far too often for his own good. He already double faulted on set point in the tiebreak against Tiafoe at the USO, and if I remember correctly also on set point against Struff at RG.

So...did these matches today matter whatsoever? Nando's has had this overall winner market up all day. It was 1.33 Team Europe very early in the first Laver Cup match of the day. It is still 1.33 now three match wins later for Team Europe.

this would be such a cool tournament if teams weren't so lopsided.
And hosts should be able to pick surfaces. If North America just picked grass, Team Europe would have to rethink their team selections.

They do some really stupid thing that makes the final matches count far, far more than the first bunch of matches, don't they?

Oh, odds moved to 1.30 since I queried about them.

Day 2: 2 pt per tie
Day 3: 3 pt per tie

so 3-0 is not much at this point.

Ah yeah...that must also be why Friday sees the relatively weaker folks like Ruud and Rublev play instead of Medvedev and Zverev.

If teams were even they wouldn't have to do this silly scoring system. But now they have to for Team World to have any chance.

yeah. all of the six players have to play at least once. and with Ruud having played today, we will probably not see Ruud vs Kyrgios.

They should just do what the NBA has reshaped its All-Star Game into and have the two captains draft out of a pool of (willing) players.

Team Borg vs. Team McEnroe would be lots more interesting than Team Europe vs. Team World. There is zero history behind the latter anyway.

Trying to copy Ryder Cup.

Is Kyrgios ever beefing with any non-Europeans? Is he just taking this competition very very seriously picking fights with European players all year long?

concept is fine, Team World just need to step up. It's six continents vs one ffs. And they still suck.

I know they are trying to create somewhat of a tennis version of Ryder Cup, but I don't buy that they are in the long-haul. That they are trying to create a continental event that will still be around in a hundred years.

Under that aspect I think it would be cooler to indeed treat it more like an ATP All-Star event where players from every continent can be in either team.

Know what I mean? If you are not trying to create a new historic event that will still be held a hundred years from now, you might as well try to maximize the few years you are getting out of it.

I prefer Team Europe vs Team World over Team McEnroe vs Team Borg or Team Federer vs Team Nadal.
I think their goal is to create a longstanding tradition, but it's going to hard to get it to work with Europe being so dominant over the forseeable future. Maybe they should invite the ladies to even out things a bit. Although I'd prefer if the ladies did their own version.

They seem to have toned down the over-the-top celebrations this year, but we shall see tomorrow when previous offenders enter the tournament.

If it was ATP Nur-Sultan it would be fine - can skip that because ATP Nur-Sultan is for mugs, but not with there being an WTA tournament in Nur-Sultan that will have early hours.

She won the first ever WTA singles tournament she entered (Oeiras 1999), the first WTA doubles tournament she entered (Makarska 1998) and the first ever mixed doubles event she entered (RG 1999).

I lost the first tennis tournament I ever entered: 0-6, 1-6 (and the game I won was only thanks to the opponent being nice).

Srebotnik didn't win her first professional singles and doubles events btw., if that wasn't clear enough. She had played a whole bunch of ITF tournaments in prior years. Oeiras and Makarska were just her respective debuts in singles and doubles with the big girl WTA circuit.

That, coupled with them having at least four courts available to them, might mean that they don't run out of light every single day like was the case with the 125 and 250 tournaments there a few weeks ago.

love the whole Laver Cup concept except the World v Europe.  Makes no sense. There should be a draft instead for Team Borg and Team McEnroe. Thinking ahead 10-20 years ratings would be high just for the draft show for Team Nadal and Team Federer. So much potential

The folks that play Laver Cup in this spot would majorily not show up this week anyway. There is a reason Federer and his partners chose this particular weekend when they created Laver Cup. It's in a week that traditionally has only 250 tournaments because the very top players want a bit more rest after the US Open and Davis Cup (though they have mostly been shunning Davis Cup too).

Instead of not playing at all because they don't want a full week of action in this spot, they have created a nice little, relaxed earner for the players for playing at max 4 full sets and 2 match tiebreaks. Half of that even in doubles instead of singles. Nothing is really at stake either.

Everyone else has the 250s (ATP) and the 500 (WTA) available to them.

It was only meant to be a contract for the summer (i.e until the end of USO) to begin with because he didn't want to become a traveling coach. Wanted to be in England to make his son the next Paolo Lorenzi. This was the case before the US Open anyway.

Maybe he did change mind after the US Open because being a traveling coach with Raducanu for just a couple more years could have been a major, major earner and she decided to move on to a higher profile coach as the contract was up...who knows...?
