The tournament with the most over the top celebrations in sports is back after a one year hiatus. Also, WTA Ostrava has a strong field and ATP is back after a week of Davis Cup.
I haven't seen the courts in Ostrava, so I don't know if the exclamation marks are still there, but I sure hope so.

I like OSTRAVA!!! choosing grey covers for the FOXTENN cameras instead of the often used black. Blends in a lot better.

Sapfo Sakellaridi has 72 wins, 33 losses on the season, meaning she has played 105 matches this season. All of them on clay. With 37 calendar weeks having been completed and her having won one of the tournaments she has played this year, it should also mean she has played in 34 of the 37 available weeks. 35 of 38 actually because she is playing again this week.

...insane...

Scandalous how Zakharova and Sorribes Tormo waited until the 12th game of the match to trigger the first FOXTENN review. If I was playing on a FOXTENN court, I'd trigger it all the time.

Kazakhstan spends countless millions trying to promote the brand of their capital city, and then changes its name Crazy

Rune about to lose now. He could have played the DC tie.

I wish they would do away with the european men's indoors tournaments.

Or men's indoors tournaments altogether actually.

Hate men's indoor tennis with a passion unless the courts are slow as mud and they use really heavy balls.
By:
Giuseppe
When: 20 Sep 21 15:30
the indoor season is mostly at the end of the year when it starts to get cold and the days get shorter, and outdoor tennis is a problem

surely a few weeks of that is ok

much more annoying is european or latin american outdoor events switching from clay to hardcourt
By:
edy
When: 20 Sep 21 15:33
No, it's not ok. Move men's tennis to Sicily or South America.

i'm all for more tournaments in south america

a city as large and wealthy as Sao Paulo for example really should have a masters event
By:
Giuseppe

i don't think the money is there, and most top players prefer to do hardcourt tournaments instead if possible (Rafa a rare example)

There is no real reason to have Metz indoors, other than for historical reason. Could still stage a perfect outdoor tournament there this time of the year.

i think Rafa only did the south american tournaments to protect his knees

i don't think Roger or Novak ever did them

there must be a reason

Novak probbaly would have won several tournaments if he had gone

would probably need floodlights

without floodlights, if you get rain, at this time of year, you can start to run out of daylight pretty quickly

SA Golden Swing traditionally clashed with the cash rich middle eastern mini swing. There was also the problem of going hard court (Australia) -> clay (Golden Swing) -> hard court (IW) in a somewhat shortish time. So the Golden Swing was really mostly played by Spaniards and South Americans.

would fans sit and watch tennis outdoors in Metz at 9pm in late September?
By:
Giuseppe
When: 20 Sep 21 15:54
in an ideal world, half the season would be on clay (Europe and SA) and half on hardcourts (North America, Asia and Australia) with a few weeks of grass in the summer and then a few indoor tournaments in the european autumn

#VisitCzechRepublic

isn't the official name now Czechia?
By:
edy
When: 20 Sep 21 16:19
I think they changed it back quite quickly because the English and Americans kept confusing Czechia with Chechnya after the name change. You know they are not particularly good with these things.
