seen many players with sharp rises and hype before slowly plateauing to their natural level. He really doesn't look like he'll be one of them. Though typically a modern player, high energy, all out, bit like Thiem (is he dead?), he has more ability.
Not the new Nadal at all, more similar to Federer and he's win points as quickly as I can approach, but less finesseful (new word)
only question is how many slams, not if.
Glad anyway he beat the guy who spends more time in local toilets than George Michael (R.I.P)
mother mes said last year that Tsitsipas was the best looking player she's ever seen
I'd like to see him play Federer, hopefully that can happen before he calls it a day, which could actually come any day now.

carlos was born at the perfect time to rock up slams.......feds career is over, rafa is surely coming to an end and maybe another 2-3 years only for novak........there is no one else out there that can win 6 or more slams except carlos. we are entering possibly the worst era for tennis since the open era began in 1969........zverev and tsitsipas have yet to win a slam. thiem only won 1 and his career seems over. medvedev is half way thru his career and has only got 1...........the goal is open carlos to rack them up.

Agree he looks the natural for the crown in the game (barring injury).
Not sure I agree it's the worst era though - surely if a player like Hewitt can dominate it must have been something like that to collect the wooden spoon for eras...?

Won more slams at 20yrs and 2 months than Nadal, Federer, Djokovic did at the same age.
If there are no rivals on the horizon for Alcaraz in the next few years, the same way we've had the trilogy above, then we could be looking at 30 slams, but definitely at least 20.

Another 17 slams and he will make the 20 he is easily capable of
If nobody appears on the horizon to stop him, it could be 30, provided he stays motivated. The only reason Nadal/Fed/Novak never made that number was because of each other, if nobody comes along in the near future, Alcaraz could get there.
There is of course Sinner, but Carlos is better and more dynamic than Jannick imo and will have the better of him over the long term. Yes it's one slam a year so far, but it feels like he's on the cusp of completely dominating especially given the decline and absences of Rafa and Novak.
1. US Open 2021 2. Wimbledon 2023 3. French Open 2024
Australia 2025 and the set is complete, maybe the Gold medal in Paris as well.
Kind Regards.
Alcaraz had won 0 slams when the thread startedHad not reached the 4th round of a slamHad not reached the last 4 of mastersWas ranked 55th in the worldNow he has won 3 Grand slamsAnother 17 slams and he will make the 20 he is easily capable ofIf nobo
I also remember thinking Sampras's 14 slams was unbreakable lol, imagine though if he was actually good on clay. Carlos will be 100% motivated to reach 25 and break Novak's record, assuming Novak is now well and truely done. All depends who emerges to challenge him, if nobody does 30 is reachable provided he stays fit, already proven he is a man for all surfaces. At least a star has emerged, there was a danger a big void would be left behind once the big 3's grip on the sport dissapated, but the sport does need rivalries to sell itself, so actually hope more players of Alcaraz's level come through.

Nadal, Federer and Novak can watch what happens knowing they all went at it until they were good fior the knackers yard. The point about Sampras isn't that he won 14 slams, it's that he quit when still competitive assuming he couldn't be passed. Whatever Carlos might do the big 3 can sleep easy in their beds, Pete not so much.
