Lots and lots of tennis this week. Prague is hardcourt unlike previous editions, Newport is grass of course and the rest is clay. The road to Tokyo has begun.

It's great how this thread engages with posters. Must be the biggest clique on Betfair Forums, or any other forum for that matter. Just the same two or three people talking to each other. Easy to see why nobody else can be bothered to join in.

Very easy for Giorgi. Striking the ball well, but under no real pressure.

Can't be many service actions like Parks. Literally jumps at the ball. Good when it goes in. Just about as far removed from a tennis outfit that I have seen.

Everybody can post as they see fit, differentdrum.

It simply is the situation that the very few people that are on here do no necessarily have an interest in the same matches as you do, with so many simultaneous matches going on most of the time.

People have "broken into" the "clique" in the past, and have done so on the quick. Positivity helps break the ice Happy
Report edy July 13, 2021 11:35 PM BST
Or sometimes people are somewhat interested in your talking points, but don't know the answer to your question(s). E.g when you asked about Lausanne today, I turned on the Govortsova stream a few times at different moments, but there was always only an overview of the grounds with courts that had no covers on. I didn't catch a moment of them sweeping around on the covers of centre court.

Everyone here does engage, don't really see what the complaint is, it's not like it's a closed shop where no-one else is welcome.

Not a lot can be done about the lack of users, Betfair forum is losing users, everyone knows that, tennis has much less people following than football, a lot of other forums are dead.

If the complaint is on a day like today, probs because not only is it a week of mug tennis, there are 6 events going on, 5 going on at same time, you had like 10+ matches going on at same time, I note you talked about the rain delay in Lausanne, but no-one probably had the answers and no-one else was probably watching, just cos rain delay = move on to one of the other 10 options.
Report edy July 13, 2021 11:39 PM BST
and WTA I mostly watch on betfair livevideo, which is commentator-free. So your question regarding the delayed British TV commentary for presumably the Kvitova-Sramkova match was a no-go for me personally as well. I don't think SamuelMertensBertens watches much tennis on TV or things like Amazon Prime either, given that speed is often vitally important for him.

I guess I could engage you with "Sorry, dunno" every time, but that does also seem a bit silly.
Report n88uk July 13, 2021 11:39 PM BST
It's also that activity breeds activity, the more active users there are, the more those that are left will post. It's not that easy to just generate conversation yourself when there's so few people around, especially on a week like this week where discussion points are few and far between.

Just saw what was said here, it was like this on Prime for some matches yday, Kvitova match wasn't only one like this in Prague, likely just technical error. Probs not even Prime, it's not Prime's own commentators on a week like this, it's coming from a world feed, probably WTA TV I presume.

Irony is that I'm pretty sure that tournaments like Bad Gastein were backed by their local tourism boards. Lots of tournaments all around the world actually are. To spread the word that those places exist and what a beautiful scenery they provide.

Probably works better with places like Portoroz than Bad Gastein.
