one of these robots will be in the final, their tennis is so ugly, felt sorry for Jabeur the Hutt, completely outpowered, brawn over brains. First saw Saba in Tashkent years ago, lost to Babos, can't remember which round, which year,  but do remember thinking she could go far is she pumps iron and does nothing else, hacking and whacking at everything, must have lost the first set in 20 minutes, only difference now is she's more precise with her shots, but zero finesse.

didn't realise Pliskabot was being coached by Bajin, he of Serena / Wozniacki / Osaka fame, the super coach, haven't seen any newfound dynamism however, just an enhanced Plan A.

a dark day for tennis because it's not tennis, it just see ball hit ball, hard, very very hard

kind regards.

A bit unfair ,as half the womens tour are ball bashers nowadays ,at least Pliskova doesnt make a loud grunt when she hits the ball ,and is not so power dependent as Sabalenka ,plays the odd refined shot.

A bit harsh here mes.

Maybe they're just playing to their strengths.

Hitting harder doesn't guarantee success.

Jabeur had the game to beat Sab imo but got worried out of it.

This would be really good if Sabalenka was the only player who pumps iron and hits the ball hard.

Ever seen Williams?

And it wouldn't surprise me if Barty spends as much time as anyone in the gym.

As for the tennis only a total idiot wouldn't play to their strengths. Personally, I prefer watching someone who takes the game to their opponent - which is what Sabalenka always does - rather than someone who 'plays the percentages'. In my opinion they are the robots of the game. With Sabalenka you pretty much don't know what is going to happen on any shot, whether she is playing well or badly. As regards variation, she will occasionally come to the net, which is alien territory for many players.

agreed dd,

I love her aggression rather just waiting for her opponent to miss

wow, a Sabalenka fan club, who knew? not sure what playing to your strengths got to do with the price of bread?  if I was Saba's coach, I'd coach her no other way either, because that's the way she's built, like a brickhouse. Daft comparison to Serena, Serena had power but she had many other facets to her game, including the best forehand motion cross court I've ever seen in women's tennis, and the greatest serve of all time, she was also handicapped by having to lug that huge arse around, impressive. If you find 4-5 shot rallies every point as watchable then OK, but that's not tennis. Nothing against her personally, she is endearing in on court interviews, but that's by the by, I don't want to see a servebot or tank win slams, we've generally avoided that in recent times. Kind regards.

The original post was daft, not the comparison with Williams who has to be one of the most muscular female athletes of all time. Do you not think she has spent hour after hour in the gym to develop that? Her game has always been based on power and intimidation. Yes, she moves better than Sabalenka, but it has never been a graceful sight.

we all beat to different drums, Serena has not been my favourite player but I acknowledge her greatness, Power was a big asset, but it definitely was far from her only one. Henin was a supreme player, you could watch her one handed back hand all day, never been a similar player since, that's what the wta misses.

Sabalenka is a one dimensional, one trick pony. Serena was far from that, in a nutshell.

All about getting the job done.

No extra points gained for artistic impression.

Are there any fit/attractive female tennis players?
TIA
Report mesmerised July 8, 2021 9:54 PM BST
the slightly more attractive servebotter won, thank God Saba is out, when it comes to tactics she has an empty hard drive, grunting wont be missed either, I admire her willpower, dedication, caring to win attitude many players are devoid of, but this cannot be showcased at the top level as the standard. Difference between them is Pliskova has softer hands, she can place a winner into the without trying to put the ball into a coma but is still heavily reliant on serving.

they both set a Wimbledon record, 32 aces, ffs thought I was watching Karlovic v Isner Laugh

and that my friends, was a Wimbledon record, smashing the previous by 7, (with an average rally length of 2.71 shots), just take a moment to let that sink it, 127 matches a year x 50 odds years of open era tennis, only it's not tennis. 57 64 64 match in less than 2 hoursCrazy

I would be surprised if she Beats Barty, who is surprising a good server / ace heavy in comparison to others of her stature, nobody has hit more aces than Barty this year, which is an amazing stat. She'll make Pliskova move too much and she doesn't move well. I try not to watch too many Kaplis matches and haven't since last year until this Wimbledon so didn't know she brought on supercoach, can't be a coincidence Wozniacki and Osaka won their first slams under him and was probably more than just a hitting partner to Serena for all them years, I would imagine he gave up on Kiki when she refused to give up her comfort blanket, doubles, you can't work with someone who refuses to be a serious tennis player.
