lost today on grass in halle to F Auger Aliassime........he was right to drop out of the french as it would have been another thumping by djoko in the q final, had he got there........does he really want to end his career like this?.......40 in a couple of mths........has lost his last 6 grand slam meetings to djoko.......not won a slam since jan 2018. no chance of winning another slam. outside chance of getting spanked by djoko in a semi or final.

He is playing for fun, legacy and simply for the love of the game. Nobody cares about how much he lost, people loves him so much that Federer means 1million times more to the sport than Djoke ever was or will. Might his records will be broken, might he never will win anything anymore but he will remain the GOAT in people eyes even if he loses 100 matches in a row.
Also there is a huge business side of Federer and the sport itself that generate millions which makes Federer to play more. It`s good for him, good for the sport and good for the fans.

And always remember, the prime Federer was beating Djoko and led the H2H and led every records until the point when he got "old" only since Djoko took over the records and the H2H. And the cherry on the top is that and "old" "tired" "should retire" Federer has beat Djoko in ATP finals easily and also had Wimbledon championship points against him which Fed lost and not Djoko won, big difference. So the comparison always fails

I agree with bdj. He's fighting a losing battle if he thinks he'll end up with the most slams. Should just call it quits at the end of the season or Wimbledon imo.

Same applies to Serena.

Traderx90........your attempt to convince yourself that fed is the goat is hilarious.........in 5 grand slam finals its 4-1 to DJOKO.........EAT IT........Joko had to beat nadal and fed to get to 19 grand slams..........fed had to beat roddick.........joko will sail past him........prob 23/24.........
Report Traderx90 June 17, 2021 10:16 PM BST
There is no attempt as I`m not a Federer fan, I didn`t not say he is the GOAT, I said he is the GOAT in the people`s eyes which is 100% true.
Also said that Djoko will break the records I`m pretty sure so there is no argument but he never will be loved that much like Fed.
I talked about H2H records, not slams, slams are part of the H2H and prime Federer vs prime Djoko =Federer wins by far, that`s the statistics, and you can not deny them so you can eat it, tasty right? :D

Joke aside, Djokovic is better by statistics on trophies and he will be the GOAT for sure(or already is) but 20years later people will still talk about how nice game and backhand Federer had and only Serbians will talk about Djokovic and the relatives of Laura Clark of course. You can not buy respect and love with trophies and records, Federer gets them by default :D

u listen too much to english speaking press who think there is only 1 tournament per year. I.E. WIMBLEDON.........they dont know that joko has won 2 french and nine aussies........the only goat opinion that matters are the tennis stats + the opinions of the tennis experts and joko has way more masters events - has won them all twice, beating nadal at rome and monte carlo, something which fed COULD NOT DO IN HIS PRIME........winning all the slams twice - BEATING RAFA AT FRENCH OPEN, SOMETHING FED COULD NOT DO IN HIS PRIME..........the opinion of sports fans who only watch tennis once a year in july does not matter the most........

"prime Federer vs prime Djoko =Federer wins by far"......such an inaccurate statement...your clearly biased.....PRIME JOKO WAS 2011 ONWARDS AND HE HAS KICKED HIS ASS.......WHAT U TALKING ABOUT...........by the way, im a RAFA fan but i have conceded that joko will be the goat...cant wait for joko to get past fed in slams........a formality by jan 2022.......Federer has played 14 slam finals v rafa and joko and has only won 4.......terrible record........against roddict, hewitt, philipoussis, CILIC and fernando gonzalez he was great but against these two............NOT SO GREAT.........FACTS MATTER, NOT THE OPINIONS OF ONE A YEAR TENNIS FANS

Prime Federer beat pre prime Novak

and prime Novak beat post prime Federer

much of a muchness

they are the 3 GOAT's

Nadal missing Wimbledon and the Olympics

that means 2 things

1. it will be 20-20-20, in 2021

2. Novak is still on for the Golden slam.
Report brain dead jockeys June 18, 2021 12:38 AM BST
thanks for the common sense scandanavian...........rafa skipped USO last year. considering joko defaulted, that was a major mistake. rafa has more chance of winning wimbledon than aus open and maybe USO..........cause zverev, med, thiem and tits can beat him on hardcourt but have done nothing yet on grass........joko beat nadal in 2018 semi wimbledon and roger beat him in 2019 semi.....he is making a right mess of things. its the aus open he should be missing. joko will have 20 in 3 weeks time.

i dont like this bias towards fed.....he played in a much easier era.....

All we heard from Federer fans was how 20 was the magic number for 3-4 years. Now, it's been equalled by Nadal, and in all likelihood will be surpassed by Djokovic, the argument has changed to 'nobody cares how much he lost' Laugh. Can't make it up.

The GOAT = Greatest of all time = records / what you've won factoring in different elements.

Fed wins the MPOAT = Most Popular of all time. He can print that one on his trainers if he likes, we'd all give him that.

Don't confuse the two.
Report DanielKoellerer June 28, 2021 10:04 AM BST
Djokovic has absolutely dominated Fed and Nadal in all seriousness and once he gets to 21 will hold every record in the book. They've beaten him now and again, and had a nice run from 2004-2010 but ever since Djok matured physically and mentally it's been one way traffic.

Most slams (impending)
Only player to win x2 slams on every surface
Beaten Rafa twice at RG (something Fed never got close to)
Absolute dominance vs Rafa off clay.
Beaten Fed x3 in Wimbledon finals (3/3)
Dominated Fed in slams and in all time finals (close to 70% winning records) - 80% in slam finals
Record no. of weeks at no.1

The list goes on. Any person with half a brain or an open mind can see who is the greatest from these 3 greats, even if Djokovic miraculously finished on 19.

Watching Fed play at his best was a thing of majesty
Nadal and Djoko not so much.
I am not convinced of the cleanliness of those 2 either so could never be behind them 100%.
Some biographies in about 15 years might be enlightening Cool

Yeah because biographies are commonly used as evidence in courts of law.

federer in his mid 30's was just as good as he was in his mid 20's............same with rafa and novak.....when novak got injred in 2017/2018 federer hopped in to win 3 slams.....he beat rafa in aus 2017 final (35 years old).....having lost their previous 3 meetings at aus open......the arguement that fed was beating joko in his prime does not make sense.......joko 2011 onwards is THE GREATEST TENNIS PLAYER EVER......WAY BETTER THAN FED EVER WAS AT ANY POINT IN HIS CAREER........ALL THE STATS PROVE IT, INCLUDING WINNING ALL THE MASTERS EVENTS TWICE.......BEATING RAFA AT M CARLO AND ROME......AND PARIS.......I WILL REPEAT SOMETHING FED COULD NOT DO AT ANY TIME IN HIS CAREER IM UMPTEEN ATTEMPTS......SO THE ARGUEMENTS ON HERE ARE STUPID....I CANNOT WAIT UNTILL HE PASSES FED........EVEN THOUGH IM A RAFA FAN......I APPRECIATE THAT JOKO IS THE GOAT.......THERE WILL BE NO DEBATE......POPULARITY MEANS NOTHING.....THERE ARE PLENTY OF NICE CHAPS OUT THERE WITH GOOD PR TEAMS

It was like someone shot Bambi, he's never been my favourite player but there will be a giant Federer shaped hole when he goes that nobody can fill, wont miss the fawning over him from commies, analysts etc, but it was great to watch throughout the whole of the Golden period of tennis, there is not going to be another one like that again.

How can any tennis fan not like Federer?
His game was amazing
Astounds me that adults say "I'm not a fan"
Unless you still have posters on your wall and have the immaturity of a 14 yo, then you have to like/enjoy watching Federer
Unless its plain old envy.
Weird
