Also of course even less incentive for Medvedev to try in that case, has drifted 10 ticks, but I really wouldn't want to touch him with a barge pole anywhere near current prices.

Hank Hill just told me that the AO start might be pushed back into February or March.
I've been saying this for months, but it's a joke really that we have this much uncertainty. Yes there's a pandemic but these things really should have been finalised by now, you can't be turning around less than a month before you were saying getting in Aus and so now you can't come in, and less than 2 months before AO starts talking of moving it back.
WTA of course will get royally screwed if this happens. Given how much they've struggled to put on events, does anyone trust them to have a contingency plan?

I'm not sure how likely this is tbh given I can't see IW and Miami just getting into line. French Open got away with it as they moved their event to a time where the other events were going to be cancelled anyway, that's not the case here.
I don't think either ATP or WTA will be happy either, as the AO always gives the season a definitive start point, I feel like if this happens, you will get loads of players not turn up until March or so.

remember when it was reported there would be tournaments throughout December and no off-season? 
That IW, Miami block also is traditionally the most cemented non-slam area of the entire season, if AO just goes and plonks itself there you will get tennis civil war probably.

Whatever is happening it needs to be sorted fast at this point, players cannot be happy behind the scenes. Given this quite clearly impacts what you should be doing, it's a huge diff eg. to these players here at O2 this week telling them to be ready for AO in mid-Jan than March or April.

Same. I think it will hinge on what they decide on when to let tennis players in. If it's Jan 1st as rumoured, then there's no real reason to delay AO more than 2 weeks. I'm curious what we're gonna get before, it seems we're gonna get a Cincy in NY style event, but how are they going to award points to this event, easy for Cincy as a traditional Masters/P5, but there's no such tradition here, but it's the most logical thing to do of course.
Also of course Cincy-NY was played out in 3 1/2 weeks.
I've not been following that closely but I won't be surprised if there's a u-turn on letting tennis players in late December anyway.

Did The Open have insurance do you know Angoose? As tbh that is the real factor in Wimbledon cancelling. If they didn't they would have found a way to play. It made an easy decision for them that they lose nothing. It's why USO was going to play, and it's why AO will play at some point, as they lose an absolute truck load if they don't. They still lose money by playing with no crowds, but a lot less than they would lose by not playing at all.
It made me lol when Wimbledon come out and announced they will definitely play next year and are preparing for 3 scenarios (no fans, some fans, full fans). As if it would be expected they'd do anything else lol.

They were all meant to be defo cancelled. But dunno if that will change if AO changes.

No idea if The Open had insurance, took me an age to get a refund on my parents travel insurance though, had to shame them in to it.
