So after a lot of different decisions on WTA Ostrava the tournament is finally going ahead. That means that after a one week hiatus, we have WTA again. And with a super strong field.

I assume Burel lost in the end from what you said then, saw she was down a break in 3rd. She actually did some muggery like this yday, won 1st set 6-0, and then ended up down a break in 3rd before winning.
Burel seems the type who gets dragged into a lot of 3 setters too from the little I have seen of her.
Why didn't Mertens challenge her own serve if she thought it was out, which she clearly did given she stopped. She was just looking about for a call, but you can challenge your own serve.

Actually talking of Brady. Kasatkina lost 1st set vs her from 5*-2 too.
decided to drop the anvil when ADF did one when he was a set up and with a big lead in 2nd.

proper anvil. can be used two days in a row. none of those cheap ones that can only be used once at best.

Are the courts even that slow? They really don't look it to me. Sorribes will lose as soon as she plays someone who can construct a point and not panic when a ball comes back imo.

It is curious when you look at a bunch of the people above her.
Take someone like Petra, what is the theory with that? I look at most of the top of the betting and think the prices are unbackable bar like Osaka and Vika, most the other prices have way too many unknowns attached to them.

I look at it and think all of Barty, Andreescu, Kenin, Serena, Iga are bad, bad prices at this point in time.
Osaka's price is actually pretty good imo this far out, 8-9/1 good price imo. Would have her shorter than that (probs like 6/1). One of few players who actually has some kind of form in the last year by time of Aus, most the others at top of betting simply don't.
Market usually loves a top player coming back and showing some form. And with Vika it's been consistent now. Truly strange from the market.
14-1 last matches on hard, only loss a close one against Osaka.
On clay she did about what could be expected. Disappointing loss against AKS, but had some good showings too. And fairly irrelevant for her AO chances anyway.

It's just a matter as ever. Very few people putting money on grand slam outrights 3 months before they start.

Victoria Azarenka says she started experiencing migraine headaches last night. Did not want to retire because she wanted to see if she could figure out how to play through it and apply that learning to future matches. Has seen her doctor about migraines in the past.
