It's been almost 8 months since the last Slam in tennis, but the 2nd one of the year is finally here. And what more fitting place to have it than at Flushing Meadows–Corona Park? No Rafa, no Roger. Novak Djokovic has started the year 23-0, will he go 30-0 once it's over? The women's event look wide open. The two faves are still Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, but there are question marks over both with the former not being in form and the latter being injured. And will we even get two weeks of 100% focus on tennis or will there be more boycotts or covid drama?

I'm surprised to see Tatjana Maria in the draw. She announced that she was pregnant in April. I can't find how pregnant she was then, and I can't find anything about her having given birth. So she might play five-six months pregnant, or after just recently having given birth.

Earliest reports I can find are dated April 3, in reference to a video "A day in the life of..." from the WTA. It will have been produced a few days prior to April 3, but no way was it an april fool's day prank.

· 11m I chose to come to US open over prague 125k as I fancied my chances of playing singles as 3rd alternate because I knew positive tests and close contacts would cause issues. But here we go again with rule changes. If I knew that anyone could play I’d not be here trying my luck. touchy subject, but she's right and I'd be annoyed if I was in her position too. |

Would she not have shared the news if she had a baby? And would there not be a visible baby bump if she was still pregnant? And would you even take the risk of playing in these times if you were?
