It begins.

WTA Premier in Brisbane.
WTA Internationals in Auckland and Shenzhen.
ATP 250s in Brisbane, Doha and Pune.

And of course Hopman Cup.

Kyrgios is going around on Insta posting pics of him bandaged up with needles in so be very wary.

Had some mug outright bets on Vika and Pliskova @ 9/1 each in Auckland and Brisbane. Wanted to back Qiang Wang in Shenzhen but price didn't look good enough even for a mug bet.

Why is world #1 Halep not playing at all this week? Seems very strange.

Sabalenka vs Sharapova QF possible in Shenzhen Shocked.

Qiang Wang is probs in softest quarter in Shenzhen so guess I can understand why she's so short outright.

Osaka has a very nice draw in Brisbane.

Talking of which Harriet Dart got a very good draw after coming through qualifying, plays WC Priscilla Hon.

Di Minaur to beat Popyrin - he just looks too solid for the youngster. Murray to beat Duckworth - Duckworth has no weapons and can't hurt Muz. Murray looks like he's been working very hard in the off -season. Raonic to beat Bedene - If Raonic is injury free Bedene has no chance. Kokkinakis to beat Tosnga - Kokk is the future number 1 if he can stay injury free and get his head together. He's won 2 solid matches convincingly in qualies, and i think he's an outside chance for the title.
Report Bunsen79 December 30, 2018 11:57 PM GMT
Dimitrov to beat Nishioka - Dimtrov's played very well at the start of the last 2 seasons, and seems to work very hard in the off-season. I think Nishioka needs conditions to be really fast to have a chance to beat Dimitrov. I don't think the heavier balls in Australia will suit him.
Report n88uk December 30, 2018 11:58 PM GMT
I'd be wary of Murray until you actually see him play, he had a tendency to go 3 sets with like everyone last year. He's making some noised that could potentially be iffy too, but it's hard to know with him.
Report Bunsen79 December 31, 2018 12:00 AM GMT
You mean his comments about potential retirement etc.? Like maybe the hip is still bothering him?
Report n88uk December 31, 2018 12:05 AM GMT
Hip still hurts and so on. Murray can come out in some of these matches really slow recently, until you actually see him, you don't know what to expect.

I don't really watch WTA or bet on it... why are Wozniacki's odds so high to beat Siegmund?
Report n88uk December 31, 2018 11:06 PM GMT
Wtf is happening in Wozniacki vs Siegemund market?

£1.4m matched when other matches have like 20k, and Woz is WAY bigger than you'd expect.

I know Woz has that arthritis thing but surely more than that?

haha I think he if is can stay injury free and consistently play and train for a prolonged period. I just read that he didn't train a lot during the off season bc he still has pain in his knee after that fall in Monaco. Popyrin looked very good against De Minaur and I think he'll be future star.

anyone following the tennis tonight? Anett just took the 1st set from Petra 7-5
Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 4:08 AM GMT
I'm watching Kerber v Cornet in Hopman cup. Waiting for the mens matches. Backed Nishikori to beat Kudla. I'm hoping to get 1.35 in-play for Zverev to beat Pouille.
Report wisewords January 2, 2019 4:35 AM GMT
good luck. Hopman Cup is an exhibition so I think Zverev will trade well above 1.5 during this match. also not 100% confident he'll win it
Report wisewords January 2, 2019 4:37 AM GMT
I'm more interested in Anett v Petra. I think Anett is going to win but it's hard to trust
Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 4:46 AM GMT
I don't watch much WTA, so can't really help you. Good luck though. Slow conditions with the heavy balls and humidity probably don't suit Kivotova. I've backed Raonic to beat Kecmanovic and Di Minaur to beat Thompson
Report wisewords January 2, 2019 4:49 AM GMT
Anett got the victory. Zverev already traded in the 1.7's early on in his match
Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 4:50 AM GMT
Well done! That 1.75 on Zverev just popped up for a second but I missed it. It just looks a really bad match-up for Pouille.

Where do you watch matches that aren't on tennis Tv?
Report wisewords January 2, 2019 4:55 AM GMT
I have Sky TV and BT Sport, so I've got Eurosport for ATP Brisbane. I've got BT Sport for WTA events throughout the season, and I've got bet365 for some streaming also. Over the last few years I've watched alot of ATP on Sky Sports, but they've now lost the rights for the Masters events. They're all on Amazon Prime now, but they have a big delay on their live streams. It sucks that Sky Sports lost those rights
Report wisewords January 2, 2019 4:58 AM GMT
I don't actually subscribe to Tennis TV. I assume you do? Is there much delay compared to actual live with their feed?
Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 5:19 AM GMT
Oh wow, I didn't know you could watch the masters on Amazon Prime. Kyrgios looking a bit more up for it today
Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 5:20 AM GMT
There's a small delay, but it's not too bad
Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 5:22 AM GMT
1 of the problems with backing Kyrgios is if he loses the first set you can't get out of the bet bc the market thinks he will tank
Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 5:26 AM GMT
Di Minaur seems very high to beat Thompson... Thompson obviously made the final or won those 3 or 4 challengers at the end of last year, but he played awful and barely won a match in tour events. He hasn't really got the weapons to hurt Di Minaur, and DM looked very sharp last night.

I would also pick Di Minaur to win that one, but Thompson is no slouch when he's 100% on his game. Lots of uncertainty at the start of the season because nobody knows who's improved etc. Thompson trashed Bolt yesterday

Report Bunsen79 January 2, 2019 6:28 AM GMT
Yes, he played very well. Di Minaur looks to have added some more pop to his first serve, and filled out a little physically. Wawrinka looks good to beat Jarry, but as always his returns are suspect against big servers.

Venus Willaims to beat Andreescu is huge value. Williams has had 2 solid wins and looks very sharp. Although Andreescu will be match tough with 5 wins, she's also going to be very tired. She's overweight and unfit, and she hurt her back against Wozniacki and had an injury time-out.
Report Bunsen79 January 3, 2019 11:24 PM GMT
Djokovic to beat Bautista-Agut - Djokovic will be tuned in and match tough after 2 tough 3-setters. Bautista has nothing to hurt him. Not sure if I can watch this one, but will look for a better price in-play and back Djok
Report Bunsen79 January 3, 2019 11:26 PM GMT
Nisihkori to beat Chardy - Nishikori was world class against Dimitrov in a very high-quality match. Chardy can't match him from the baseline, and Nishikori is serving better than ever and seems to have really improved it in the off-season.
Report Bunsen79 January 3, 2019 11:31 PM GMT
De Minaur to beat Tsonga - De Minaur has added a lot more pop to his serve and general weight to all his shots. He's looking like a top ten player. Tsonga hasn't played 3 matches in a row in the last year. When the balls were a little heavier against Daniel, Tsonga really struggled.

Agree, was very hard to see if you were not informed before, as everyone was chasing the low odds bust in this start of season, when you expect some of them to be shaky while serving out. Finally its Joker himself who shows the way, probably the least probable from all. fix very likely.

Luckily, i didn't bet on Djoker, but I would have greened out after the first set. I greened up on Williams early, as she looked a little jaded and sick. Took a very small loss on De Minaur when I heard comms talking about his shoulder being inured. Picked 10 from 14 this week (12 greens), with only 2 small stop losses on Tsonga against Daniel and Tsonga and De Minaur. What does everyone think of todays matches, including qualifying?
