The latest forum competition, this time it’s for the 2018 US (Tennis) OPEN: PLEASE ENTER ON THIS THREAD
There isn’t much lead time, because the players and full draws/seeds/qualifiers haven’t known until now.
I’m awaiting any news of a prize fund, if there is one I’ll tell you on this thread.
This is how it works:
There are 12 sections You have to pick 1 player, Score, round, or number (depending on which section) for each one. The scores for each selection are listed below.
Just put the letters A to L with your choice for each - preferably going downwards, followed by a tie-break answer.
In the event of ties, a tiebreak will come into effect so there should be an absolute winner (and 2nd & 3rd).

A. What round will Novak Djokovic reach – or Will he win?
In his 12 appearances at the US Open, he’s won twice, been losing finalist 5 times, losing semi finalist 3 times and twice lost in R3.
Choose from R1, R2, R3, R4, QF, SF, F, Win.
2 points for being right.
B. How many of the top 16 Mens seeds will make the last 16?
Choose from 0 to 16
4 points for being spot on, 2 points if 1 out, 1 point if 2 out.
C. How many of the top 16 Womens seeds will make the last 16?
Choose from 0 to 16
4 points for being spot on, 2 points if 1 out, 1 point if 2 out.
D. What will the score be in the 1st round match between STAN WAWRINKA and GRIGOR DIMITROV. Put WAWRINKA’S score 1st
So choose a score from 3-0, 3-1, 3-2, 2-3, 1-3, 0-3
3 points if correct, 1 point if getting the right winner, wrong score.
E. Will previous winners win the Tournaments (Men’s singles, Womens singles, Both or Neither
Previous winners taking part are: Men: Wawrinka, Djokovic, Cilic, Federer, Del Potro, Murray & Nadal. And Women: Stephens, Kerber, Kuznetsova, Stosur, Sharapova, Williams (S) and Williams (V)

F. How many Games will be played in the Womens final – in total?
Choose from: 12 to 39 The last 5 finals have provided 15, 29, 21, 18, 32. games
4 points if correct, 2 points if wrong by 1 and 1 point if wrong by 2
G. How many SPANISH MEN will get to the last 8 of the singles:
There are 10 Spanish players in the main draw currently, plus at least 2 qualifiers . They are: Bautista-Agut, Cabelles-Baena, Carreno-Busta, Ferrer, Garcia-Lopez, Munar, Nadal, Ramos-Vinolas, Verdasco... Granollers and Robredo are the 2 qualifiers, If I’ve missed any, they won’t count Let’s also try not to get too confused by the plethora of double-barrelled names in use,
Unless I’m mistaken - which is quite possible – 2 of them are seeded (top 16). There are a few all Spanish affairs in the 1st round, and depending on where in the draw the qualifiers end up, there could be as many as 6 Spanish men in the last 8 (but don’t hold me to that, it’s not easy to work out).

H. How many of the 32 Mens seeds will be Knocked out in the 1st round
Choose from: choose from 0 - 32
4 points to correct predictions, 2 if out by 1, 1 point if out by 2.
I. How many of the 32 Womens seeds will be Knocked out in the 1st round
Choose from: choose from 0 - 32
4 points to correct predictions, 2 if out by 1, 1 point if out by 2.
J. How many of the 8 players whose surname begins with an M will still be in the womens singles in Round 3?
This is the full list, I don’t think there are any qualifiers beginning with a M who can still be added: but, IF I HAVE MISSED ANY OUT OR ANY FURTHER PLAYERS WHOSE NAMES BEGIN WITH AN ‘M’ ARE ACTUALLY TAKING PART THEY WILL COUNT

L. Which of these 10 players will progress furthest in the womens singles? Svitolina, Pliskova, Goerges, Ostapenko, Kasatkina, Muguruza, Bertens, Keys, Mertens, V. Williams(seeds 7-16)
3 points for being right
TIEBREAK :
How many Aces will there be in the Mens final? Last year there were 11. (’ve given up looking for the 2016 number)

E&OE – Any ties in any sections, points shared; (eg, if the score is 2 points for 3rd, 1 point for 4th, and there's a tie for 3rd, both will score 1.5)
If I’ve made any glaring errors, please let me know, and if they can be rectified or sorted, I’ll do my best to sort it.
The organiser's (that's me) decision is final. I'll try to update scores and standings at the end of each Section’s completion.

An early leaderboard after Stan Wawrinka won in straight sets 3-0 gets no-one 3 points as no-one predicted it.
However, if you thought he'd win 3-1 or 3-2, then you'll score 1 point. 3 men's seed and 2 women's seeds have gone already in the 1st few hours of play. a couple of others have only just scraped through Early leaders (the rest of us picked Dimitrov):

A. Djokovic, still in as at R4 B & C. Quite a few seeds will still be in at the last 16 stage, we'll know how many in the morning. D. Finished and scored E. Plenty of ex-winners still in - unsurprisingly F. We'll see on the day G. Only Rafael Nadal left, and he'll have to beat basilashvili to make the last 8 H & I. Finished and scored J. 3 women whose names start with an M made the 3rd round - 2 points for that! K. 5 men from the 10 still in L. 6 women from the 10 are still in. Section B: Of the top 16 seeds in the Men's tournament, 9 made it to the last 16, which if predicted earns 4 points, 1 out gets 2 points, 2 out is worth a point.
Section C: Of the top 16 seeds in the Women's tournament, only 5 got to the last 16. 5 = 4 points, 4 or 6 = 2 points, 3 or 7 = 1 point Section G: Just the 1 Spaniard left in the last 8. 2 points for that! Section K: The 10 named men... 3 still in, 2 in the QFs, 1 in R4 Section L: The 10 named Women... Thiem and Isner both made the 1/4 finals and were ousted.
So as joint winners anyone who picked either, in Section K earns 1.5 points. We're now waiting to see if Madison Keys can win her 1/4 final match or lose and tie section L with Pliskova. The scoreboard (I deserve a prize for managing 0 points, imo)

We have a clear winner - thanks to Mr Djokovic winning the men's singles. Just a quick mention for me also, the clearest loser in any competition, ever. The next competition, and I'm reasonably confident at least some of it should be on TV is the World Darts (combining both the PDC AND BDO) which happens over Christmas, and is usually very entertaining.
