There's only one winner here, because in Tennis you can't draw.

Last 2 times they met at Wimbledon, in 2015 Novak was 1.04, 2011 - 1.01.

Novak is now back playing his best tennis after 2 years and 1.21 is a gift.

Cilic mugged hard. Hard to totally explain it, but he probably can't explain it either. Rain obviously hurt, he was winning so easily before the delay.

It was most telling that the fans were just cheering points won against serve, no-one really cared who won, they just wanted it to end, and that's not a desirable outcome for everyone.

I don't like 5th tiebreaks. I think all tiebreaks are a bit of an anticlimax so i think it would be a shame to go down the US open route. It's why I'd like to see the no-ad rule for 6 or 8 or 10 games after 6-6. You've just played the better part of an extra set and for the players on court, and the ones due afterwards, and probably the spectators, you should kill the match.

One thing 5th tiebreaks at 6-6 does it is it's pro servebots. I still remember that year at USO when Isner beat Roddick I think without breaking him all match and looking very tired in the 5th set, but ultimtately servebotted huge in the final set tiebreak.

ok, so let's modify my rules. no ad to 10-10 after 6-6 in the fifth. and then a breaker, and the players have to play with wooden racquets.

The best way to stop these serve bot marathons in the 5th set is to force them to serve underarm once it gets to 6-6

Then the best returner will win and win more quickly.

He's got to go back to 3 a year type years if he wants to get to 20.
Report dlarssonf July 15, 2018 3:33 PM BST
Yeah it did aaronh and I thought then it would never happen but I am starting to think it might again - injury free he has years left and Rafa aside I don't see who will stop him consistently , a slam a year for the next 6 years has him close
Report n88uk July 15, 2018 3:34 PM BST
If he's only winning 1 a year though, chances are Nadal/Federer are winning others thus the bar is higher than 20 anyway.

Nadal has a big chance of getting to 20 and beyond. Current form has to have him 1 of favs to win USO, if he picks that up, him going over 20 is starting to look good.

Yeah n88uk but Nadal's problem is Novak though. Novak plays him and matches up so well with him , would love nadal to get to the twenty though but after yesterday it's hard to see another wimbledon title in that haul

Nadal really wasn't that far from him yday and the other day, and definitely had his chances to win the match on what is probably his worst surface (ok it's not Djokovic's best either, but point stands).

20 is really an infacted figure because of Novak's absence, Federer was able to win 2 of his 3 slams were he didn't beat a top 5 player and in all 3 Novak would have been favourite, I would even of had Murray has fav to beat Federer given the form he was in latter part of 2016 but injuries took their toll.
