The Happy Slam is over and it's time for muggery. St Petersburg has a decent field with reigning Slam champions Caroline Wozniacki and Jelena Ostapenko as top seeds. This is also where Kiki Mladenovic starts to defend her GOAT run from last year, and we see the comeback of Timea Bacsinszky. For those who enjoy watching tennis at weird hours, there is also Taiwan Open this week where Sabine Lisicki makes her return to the tour. No ATP main tour tournaments this week, but plenty of Davis Cup tennis this weekend
These threads are weekly threads with just tennis talk: match talk, past, current or upcoming events in tennis etc. Spamming (including muggy politics talk) and general sports talk can be done elsewhere such as the usual megathreads, current one is called It's time for S/OT 6.

depends what the expectations are for you really

the very best prospects shouldn't but it does seem to provide a solid base for those who want to be a constant on Challengers and in some cases get even better

Isner one of the few top players to come out of college in singles in past 20 years

Seems to me the College system is not a good one given it's lack of top players it's produced.

Also just looked that the entry list for Rotterdam, Felix has been given a wildcard it seems, must have a rich daddy with a name like Felix.

Can already sense the level of disappointment from British casual fans at Wimbledon when they listen to Norrie speak for the first time after being told of this new British sensation, only to hear a Kiwi accent, Konta tries hard to disguise her Aussie twang, but she left to come here too late.

They really should have translators on stand by so we know what they're saying when they've requested the coach at the changeovers. It's gamblers that keep their viewer-ship up, least they can do is give us some insight as to whether we should lay a player who wants to retire, says he/she is injured etc, common courtesy.

This is actually not good for injury prevention, you're meant to do a warm/cool down after exercise, sitting down for so long could damage muscles.

I've never understood why they don't just remove players from the Rankings when they've announced their retirement, no point in clogging up the rankings with a permanently inactive player, even if they do announce within the next year they're coming back, sods law.
