once again, initial thread was mugging, so let's try this version.

Muggy tennis continues this week and it's in all kinds of time zones. Some questions to be answered this week: will Caroline Wozniacki win her first clay title since 2011, will David Goffin remember how to play tennis again and who will win the cow in Gstaad?

These threads are weekly threads with just tennis talk: match talk, past, current or upcoming events in tennis etc. Spamming (including muggy politics talk) and general sports talk can be done elsewhere such as the usual megathreads, current one is called S/OT 5.

I see @kobebryant has made it out to a different court. If you're ever in SD, I'll bat a few around with you

Djokovic almost certainly out of US Open btw. Not official yet, but has been announced he needs 6-12 weeks out with a bone bruise and is likely to miss US Open and 3 masters 1000s.

Who'd have ever thunk that Federer would have a season with 3 won majors like in his best of days.

Roger Federer may be. but that's about it

Federer definitely no. He said on BBC he never thought he could win in Australia, he looked at his draw and thought it looked so tough and it was meant to be more of a building block for him, he thought get to the QF's then go forward from there.

so Fed #1 at year end is set in stone already? The only challenger has been Rafa anyway and Fed should do better in the second half of the year.

The relationship between Roy Emerson & the Palace Hotel in Gstaad began 44 years ago.  Roy, who holds the Men's World record of 28 Grand Slam Titles, had also won the Swiss Open 5 times in Gstaad.  He wanted to keep returning to Gstaad which he considered the most beautiful spot in the world. “Tennis in paradise.”
Together, the Gstaad Palace Hotel, one of the leading hotels of the world, and Emerson started the Roy Emerson Tennis Weeks. A combination of 1st class cuisine, impeccable and personalized hotel service, and the forever present personality of Roy himself along with his international group of pros, offers the most exquisite tennis vacation experience.

wouldn't say set in stone. Rafa loves to mug/be fatigued towards the end of the year, but I could see him doing a strong US hardcourt season.

Rafa should've grabbed the number 1 ranking along with the 500k Hamburg had offered this week.
