If that is right Petra vs Ostapenko is on an unstreamed court . That is criminal if that's the case.
|
By:
that only 7 courts are streamed is criminal anyway
|
By:
There's some very weird matches if those courts is correct though (and they are the top 7 on OOP which suggests it is).
There's loads of Americans unstreamed. Yet Strycova vs Niculescu, Duckworth vs Haase, Pospisil vs Kovalik, Thompson vs Darcis among other crap is on these courts. Old Grandstand which is almost certainly streamed has the worst OOP for a streamed court ever when limited TV courts like this. |
By:
Court 13 is the court that clearly given to the Japanese for TV rights as 3 Japanese on their to start the OOP.
Old Grandstand: Thompson vs Darcis Pospisil vs Kovalik Puig vs SaiSai Svitolina vs Minella That is awful. |
By:
ESPN 3 has more than 7 courts listed. But USTA's own press release today says there is 7 TV courts (maybe it quite literally means that).
|
By:
Btw do 365 not have USO this year?
|
By:
Oh no they do, and they claim to have many more than 7 courts.
|
By:
They claim to have 12 courts.

Quite clearly states 7 TV courts though. So unless it's just muggy phrasing and there are TV courts and online only courts (wouldn't surprise me if this is the case). |

Johanna Konta intends to announce herself on the world stage as she aims for breakthrough at US Open
From The Telegraph. Does this mean win it I assume, because surely AO semi's is already a breakthrough otherwise. |
By:
Not it doesn't. It doesn't really clarify at all. Seems a bit of bizarre headline then.

/johanna-konta-intends-to-announce-herself-on-the-world-stage-as/ It's basically about her not being that recognised yet despite being world #14. It's just because Brits generally only watch Wimbledon, and she hardly stood out there. She doesn't have the attractive looks that a Robson has, and hasn't really played any classics in front of a large audience like Watson has. |
By:
how many current players fit that kind of criteria anyway

If Konta made QF's + at Wimbledon she would become a household name overnight probably.
She just hasn't done much that steals headlines. A lot of her runs come in Asian swing, AO. Ie. the worst places to make runs if you want to get noticed in the UK. Even a deep run at the French on ITV would be big. Maybe USO can do it, but unless she makes final I doubt it will make her a household name. |
By:
But headline of breakthrough is a bit misleading with the article, because to achieve that breakthrough she would basically have to win US Open which isn't mentioned once in the article.
Murray being amazing doesn't help either. It means whatever she does looks average in this era. Laura was already a big name before Murray had really made his name for example. If we had Konta a load of no hopers Konta would always be the #1 tennis headline on BBC, but reality is Murray will outshine her nearly every week so will nearly always be the #1 tennis headline. |
