Federer is surely the initial play. Djokovic has looked a bit shaky all Championships, Federer looked great today. Federer traditionally enjoys a good match up with Djokovic anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if Federer wins in 3 based off form.

Another Slam for Fed looked extremely unlikely based on Wimbledon final 2014 Fed. His game looked in terminal decline but he has been re-invented & re-invigorated under Edburg. Fed 2.0 aged 33 is probably one of the most remarkable re-imaginings of all-time in sporting history. That was unbeatable tennis he played today & the best he's ever looked imho. Fed in his youthful pomp was like a tennis cyborg but today was like an improved version.

players go in and out of form. they aint robots and we are not privy to the wee niggles that hold them back from the A game. it doesn't take much to hold your game back and a few points here and there are vital.
we all do suspect that rafa may be gone altogether but who knows if the drug testers calm down and he can have few more uninterrupted epo fuelled blood transfusions he may come storming back.

Yesterday's performance by Fed was a master class In how to play the game of tennis. He was sublime. To watch him play was a thing of beauty. Murray didn't play badly, he was just simply outclassed. If Fed brings this game to the final on Sunday, what a match we have in prospect !

i'm with facts as far as IF he plays that way again he wins no8. he just cannot be broken serving like that.
master class is correct but only on serve. impossible to know how good the rest of his game is. murray looked better when a rally did develop & you would have to suspect murray could take him on a hard court unless he serves even better. murray was pretty damn good just bumped into fed at his best.
all conjecture tho. we shall see.

Why?
1. Djokovic is redundant! He is done. Stick a fork in him. He will never EVER win a slam again! His BIZARRE loss to Waw in FO is a killer! That is the PROOF of his REDUNDANCY! It was not Waw who beat Djokovic. (WAw is a mediocre player. A MUG! gasquet is proof of it). It is Djokovic who blew it. He blew it because of redundancy.

2. The max Djoko can get is ONE SET! And that's only thnaks to Fed's age. Fed will get 2:0 in no time...even before you realised it, will be 2:0 for Maestro. Then his level will drop (due to age), which Djoker will use to chip off a set. Then in Fourth will be a killer.

3. Djoko can play only SLOW players...like Nadal. Fed is fast. Particularly on grass. Before Djoko wake up, he will be 2 sets down. And guess what: He will not be surprised! He got used to it.

4. When Djoko faces Federer, his underware is shaking off!

5. Djokovic is used to lose GS finals! Very soon he will even beat Lendl in that department. (Lendl blew 11 out of 19 finals, Djokovic just 8 out of 16!!) Tomorrow it is going to be his 9th BLEW!

i didn't really think fed would beat muzza and not because i rate murray cos i don't
and then i was absolutely convinced he no way would beat djoko
but i've just been looking at the H2H and fed matches up a lot better than i thought
and i've never been 100% convinced by djoko..he can be pretty flaky
so basically i haven't got a f*cking clueGrin
but can fed play to that level again?
surely not if it goes all the way which it could well do
he's the best i've seen when he's on song
but then again when he's at the top of his game djok is a fantastic athlete
can't see either winning in straight sets..could be a classic

just been looking at the age records..arthur ashe was just under 32 when he won
fed would be the eldest by 2 years were he to prevail..i know stats are there to be broken and athletes these days can stay fit and strong far longer than in times past but is it a bridge too far plus djoko's probably only got another year b4 he's toast re slams

I would fancy Murray to beat Djork if they had met at here.
So Fed must be the choice.
Finally got used to playing with the bigger racket?
Coming into the net even more.
Unbelievable that he looks improved on his younger self.
The Murray match was no fluke me thinks.
His timing looks impeccable.

Must be just me that thinks Djokovic at 1.91 is a fantastic price.  If I was neutral I'd be in Fed's corner, but I expect I'll be balls deep on Djokovic at these price...so c'mon Novak.
By:

When: 11 Jul 15 21:39
The thing is, he hasn't been on his game the past fortnight whereas Federer has been on his best grass court game for years, esp his serving hence the price, the general feeling is Novak at this point in time is there for the taking, but there's nothing like a grand slam final to focus the mind regardless of recent form. Feels like a 5 setter again.

Hard to disagree with any of that, but at the moment it looks like it could go evens the pair.  Which, in my mind at least, is wrong.

Hasn't Novak won 36 of his last 37 matches.  Wawrinka did smash Fed to pieces at the French as well.  Different game playing at Wimbledon but at the start of the tournament Novak would have been 1.40 to win this match.  A brilliant serving performance, against a once again very negative Murray, is surely not enough to take that 1.40 to 1.94.

Djoko is just one year backward...his huge melt down in FO final against a mug is unheard of in modern era.
Djoko better player, yet his confidence is not at the bottom of the cellar, while federer's is skyrocketing. If Djoker can chip off one set he should call it an achievement.
