I didn't even post in that thread, and until you posted it never even knew it existed. I think I posted my list of fav's in some thread months ago though, and it definitely included Halep.

Halep is a great player, she had her breasts reduced in size. And now is a great player.
Until Friday last week i had never seen this halep play, (obviously saw the name several time on the tennis coupon.) So on friday i backed Wozniacki to win the tournment and was surprised to see the odds at and 4/5 for Wozniacki to win her match against Halep. After watching this match which we all know Wozniacki is a great returner, i was pissed off and shocked at how well Halep was hitting the ball. I did not see Kvitova play and niether did i see the result. I expected at least 3 sets! I decided to go for a heavy bet on Halep in the final knowing that she won a few tourny previously. At the start of the match kvitova broke her and i thought it was all over so went off for a cuppa came back and saw 6-2 at this point i thought it was kvitova who won the set and then on closer inspection realized it was Halep who had destroyed kvitova, I sat down and saw a awesome display of hard hitting tennis that i rarely see in the womens game. Hello and congratulations HALEPS. |

Just had a quick glance at the draw.
Is it just me or does Simona really have a comfortable draw? First round Watson is nowhere at the moment, very poor. Second round the young talent Vekic who still needs a few more matches at this level before she can make an impact at this level. Third round probably Kirilenko, first real threat based on rankings but not based on form. Straight set losses to Barthel and Cornet alongside a mugfest against a 115 ranked Tatishvili suggest that she really isnt playing like a top 20 player atm. Next up Peng or Errani, both are going out easily against Halep if she plays like this. QF Stosur, Kvitova, Petkovic? Here it might get tricky if its an in form Stosur but she can survive to make it against Azarenka, no? |

Can't see her beating Serena, she is too short physically IMO but could see her beating anyone else. Someone else will have beat Serena (from Serena's half of the draw) for Halep to win it. I could see her beating an off-form Azarenka too but I think she would have trouble with Aga (unlikely to meet). Any player giving away UEs will be in trouble playing Halep in current form. Vinci might be the biggest threat in her quarter.
But she hasn't been past the 3R of a slam before and has played a hell of a lot of tennis lately, more than nearly everyone I would say. Two more weeks might be too much for her on its own. She played a lot of tennis leading up to FO and Wimby and went out early in both of those. |

lets be real here - she has no chance against Serena nor Azarenka, that is a different tennis world. Serena is playing like a guy, Azarenka is not even that far behind her at the moment though i doubt it she could beat her in a tournament of this magnitude. The rest are not even close. So Simona does have a good chance vs Radwanska but is unlikely to play her cause she is on Serena's side.

It would be a good tournament for Simona if she reaches the QF. Semi final a great success. Win the semi final and a huge success. She needs to play her best game, and also hope Serena and Aza both lose early.

more chances of them retiring due to an injury then losing. I do not wish them that but if it is the only way for Halep to win the tournament then why not

I agree that retiring due to an injury is the best chance; definitely with Azarenka. I believe Serena is more brittle and if she's challenged may bomb out early. Sloane has the best chance

Sloane is one of the few obstacles in Serena's draw though, her quarter is very soft otherwise.

Sloane shouldn't be an obstacle for Serena, unless she has a mare like last time. Aza can serve like a complete mug at times, that would have to happen for Halep to beat her. Unlikely but possible. But people are ignoring Halep's total lack of experience going deep in a slam too. Nerves and fatigue would have to come into play.
