Anabel beat her in their only meeting. Anabel has won more clay court titles than any other active player. Is there an injury?

Halep has a Chaos Factor of 42.35%. That means over 42% of all her matches in the last year have ended with an unexpected or inconsistent result (eg if she is the favourite, she loses... and if she is the outsider she wins). Haleps Chaos Factor is one of the Top 3 (most unpredictable/ inconsistent players in the Top 100 WTA)

1)Halep plays better in the season
2)Halep was in the final here last year
3)Medina had leg injury at AO, after that her best results were 2nd round in some tourneys
4) Last year they met in Estoril it was 7-6 7-6 Medina, but Halep last year and now are 2 different players.

Medina Garrigues Chaos Factor was 27.5% up until early April. That's about mid-range. The lowest (and therefore most predicatble on the WTA is Schiavone (19.23%) which means she wins when she is supposed to and she loses when she is supposed to. The model of consistency. The worst (and therefore most inconsistent) is Flavia Pennetta. Her Chaos Factor is 46.29% up until early April. Everyone else falls in betweeen somewhere, but Halep is right up near the top. Hope this is useful...

well yes, looks like that. but ggecko gave a figure for halep, just asking what the figure is for amg, as you can't just look at one player.

i find it mind boggling that an italian is the lowest on that scale
on the other hand i don't find it at all surprising penne is the queen of chaos

On the other hand, Halep has won 87% of her games on this price range...

this could be decided by fitness, probably give halep the edge there.

the drawback with stats like those are they can't cater for sudden increases/decreases in form, like halep, mona, kuz, bepa. su=ince doha, halep has only lost once to someone outside the top 10, that's way above the level she was playing at before.

I totally agree! The Chaos Factor I mentioned doesn't take into account surface, current form... or any of that stuff. It perhaps suggests which players are the unpredictable ones (female Davydenko's) I don't make any great claims. I just shared a little bit of research I'd done. I tend to use the info to get an idea on who is most likely to lose the match (choke/melt-down etc) if I'm unsure.

i remember seeing an index either on the wta site or on matchstat that listed how often players lost to lower ranked players. a similar idea.

iirc daniela was the best at not losing to lower ranked players

Annabel tried to go shot for shot with Halep. Total failure.
Sometimes you have to wonder about the intelligence of these WTA players.

Not a single drop shot by Annabel and constant attempts to play the Halep backhand which made no sense at all.
from game 4 (on serve) is was clear who the winner would be
