Report Lets Elope June 5, 2011 6:11 PM BST
Incredible effort by Nadal he's an absolute magician, don't know how anyone can hate him. He is one of the greatest if not he greatest of all time. Serves me right betting against my favourite player of all time and then not trading back when he got to evens. Still can't believe Roger managed to lose the first set after basically dominating it.

Gee Totenham if you hadn't explained the blatantly obvious I would have never realised that sport is decided by millimetres.

Totenham no comparison between Chokovich and Federer come back and talk when chokovich has done what rogers has in Grand salms and yes I relise you're talking about current form, you can win as many tournaments as you like its the grand Slams that cout and basically even the much improved chokovich doesn't win them.

he should sell it on cash in the attic
Report Lets Elope June 5, 2011 6:28 PM BST
One slam out of how many he's contested doesnt make him a great player he's obviously improved significantly since the Aust. open and still couldn't get past Federer here, a good player but hasn't earnt the right to even be mentioned in the same breathe as Nadal or Federer and lacks their enormous heart.

Federer a class act all the way, talk about being a graceful loser and after being stabbed through the heart again by Nadal, now that's class.

Report Lets Elope June 5, 2011 6:42 PM BST
Both are absolute class acts.
Anyone know what was wrong with Nadal over the last few months even for most of the first set he didnt seem the same player and then Federder just seemed to play him into something resembling his top gear. He just didnt appear to have the same energy and enthusiasm even in his press conferences he sounded very down and that why his win here was even more impressive, to somehow hold everyone off when not at your peak is an indication of his true greatness.
Report LordBobbbin June 5, 2011 6:47 PM BST
Well you said 'you can win as many tournaments as you like its the grand Slams that cout and basically even the much improved chokovich doesn't win them.' Which, as the Australian Open shows, is being a little unfair to Djoko, since he does win them - or has on one of the two times this year the 'much improved chokovich' has contested a GS.

He also beat Fed in the US Open, and put up a pretty good performance against Nadal in the final. Nadal was, on that occasion, in stunning form. By contrast, today Nadal wasn't great, and maybe had Nad played in the US Open final the way he did today, Djoko would have got much closer to beating him than Federer did.

The sad thing is that Federer played well today for long stretches, but was pyschologically weak when it came to the crucial games - the end of the third set being the exception. So it's certainly fair to question whether Fed would have won as many titles had the likes of Nad and Djoko been up against him all through his career.

I'm not saying that Djoko's overall record should be placed up with Fed at this early point. However, you did seem to be dismissing Djoko as being vastly inferior to Fed and only doing it in smaller tournaments. Given that Djoko has beaten Fed twice in the last three Slams, he probably deserves a little more respect than that...
Report Lets Elope June 6, 2011 7:17 AM BST
No he doesn't, he's proven consistently and again in the french that when the heat gets really turned up he can't handle it (there is absolutely no doubt he blinked again against Federer) and until he consistently wins  Grand Slams he can't and doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breathe as Nadal or Federer.
I've made a small fortune laying him in big matches in Grand Slams and he's rarely let me down, the same goes for Murray another who can't consistently handle the pressure of Grand Slams. No doubt chokovic is a far superior player than what he what he was but they're still big questions over his mental strength in my opinion and I stand by that judgement. Until he wins Wimbledon or the french nothing else matters and that not denigrating the US or Aust Open but the French and Wimbledon are the benchmark.
