Analysing what happened to safina...sometimes I get stomach cramps caused by TRAPPED GAS. They are REALLY PAINFUL but if I can FART THE GAS OUT then they go away. This could well have happened to her. So those saying she went for a sh!t to recover...not far off.

Not moving, walking to the other side of the court when the ball was still in play... when Pivo won the game (wich was the set) Dinara walked very slow to the chair. Pivo was so focused on Dinara that she forgot that the set was over, Pivo was standing at the end of the court waiting for Safina to serve. Just went she saw Dinara was in the chair, she realized the set was over.

There was no reason to hang on court the way Safina played the last 3 games of the second set, but repeat, if she didnt retire in the last game the way she was doing things, it was pretty obvius she just wanted to end the set so no retirement was comming.

interesting. the large bandage was hidden under the long sleeved top she wore until she took it off for the last 3 games

seriously, it might also explain why safina was so determined to keep going - she knew she was up against an opponent who was injured.
