An easy win for Murray here?
Report __JC_GT__ November 6, 2009 1:30 PM GMT
Murray looks about 6.75% of his potential but he's still up a break.
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 1:35 PM GMT
Murray's backhand looks way off
Report LOCHINVAR November 6, 2009 1:35 PM GMT
not an easy win here. montanes could win by virtue of retirement?
Report Alutex November 6, 2009 1:35 PM GMT
Playing like a mug as usual - a cheap lay 1,04/1,05
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 1:36 PM GMT
Really poor, Verdasco should destroy him if he gets through.
Report __JC_GT__ November 6, 2009 1:37 PM GMT
Just layed off my +6.6 Handicap then he breaks Murray back :(

Should have been a lot more green.
Report __JC_GT__ November 6, 2009 1:37 PM GMT
*6.5.
Report Alutex November 6, 2009 1:38 PM GMT
Monty motivated by the partizan home crowd, Muggy wants to be somewhere else by the looks of it.
Report LOCHINVAR November 6, 2009 1:38 PM GMT
i have nothing on murray but was reading comments on the bbc site about icepacks for his wrists etc etc and i contemplated laying him but didnt. still wont.
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 1:38 PM GMT
Murray has returned looking like his attitude has regressed rather than progressed.

He's always had the ability, but most of the time he's either too**y or doesn't quite believe his own hype. Lost little boy is what he looks like very often. Not the swagger of a Fed or Nadal, or even a Djoker.

I can see him losing to some nobody before long. Probably not today though, Montanes doesn't quite have the weaponry.
Report Alutex November 6, 2009 1:40 PM GMT
What was the highest price Muggy went yesterday please ?
Report keepgreeningout November 6, 2009 1:41 PM GMT
1.41 ish

Mugray already in trouble ?
Report __JC_GT__ November 6, 2009 1:42 PM GMT
I can't believe so many mugs on here actually spoke of Murray & Fed in the same breath.

Murray had his purple patch & was impressive. But he'll never be anywhere near as amazing as Fed.

A better comparison for Andy is, say......... Safina.
Report Alutex November 6, 2009 1:42 PM GMT
thx.

Already trashing his racket to the ground - this is not a good sign
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 1:43 PM GMT
I don't understand what Murray has to gain by playing so passively in tournaments and matches like this. Perfect chance to unleash - if he loses, then so what?

Thought he would have learnt from his grand slam performances this year that this game plan is not going to get the job done against the top players. His best career performances have came when he has taken the ball on and been aggressive i.e vs Nadal in New York, Wawa in New York, Fed in Madrid
Report SwindonBoy November 6, 2009 1:43 PM GMT
murray owns fed tbh
Report McChicken_Sandwich November 6, 2009 1:44 PM GMT
Murray owns Fed when Fed plays badly tbh

Murray traded at just over 1.5 yesterday
Report SwindonBoy November 6, 2009 1:45 PM GMT

Traded at 1.89 when a set up against Gimpeno. :|

I hope to god Montanes doesn't win this set in a TB for the handicaps sake.

Report Jaap November 6, 2009 1:48 PM GMT
Few occasions where Murray has outplayed Fed in Madrid and Doha mainly. Other times Fed has choked badly.
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 1:49 PM GMT
Actually Dubai he outplayed him but maybe Fed still had Mono then.

Report super_teddy November 6, 2009 1:56 PM GMT
No love in the market for Murray all week. Ok so he's not exactly playing well but he's good enough to get past the likes of Montanes playing at quarter capacity.
Report SwindonBoy November 6, 2009 1:56 PM GMT
0-40 :)
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 1:57 PM GMT
not consistently super ted. If he continues to play like a nonce he'll get found out eventually.
Report SwindonBoy November 6, 2009 1:58 PM GMT
deuce
Report super_teddy November 6, 2009 1:58 PM GMT
Not against Montanes indoors that's what I mean, if he'd played someone half decent it would be very wise to back against him, but until now he hasn't.

He will in the next round though.
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 2:04 PM GMT
I disagree, the starting odds indicated that Murray would beat Montanes 9 out of 10 times. Given the way he's been playing of late, I think that's a bit of a tough assumption to accept. Playing like he can he'd beat Montanes 10 out of 10 times, but at his current level he'd come unstuck a couple of times, quite possibly even more than 1 in 10 times.
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 2:06 PM GMT
Seems to be finding some touch at last.
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 2:07 PM GMT
First decent player Murray plays as long as the odds are right I'll be laying him. He's ripe for the picking until he gets his head sorted.
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 2:08 PM GMT
I agree, but a guy like Murray can raise his game against the top players, he seems to play badly against the average players who he underestimates.
Report tsonga November 6, 2009 2:11 PM GMT
can you really imagine Murray losing to Montanes on an indoor court however badly he's playing? He does raise his level when he really needs to (e.g. thrid set last night). The only way he would lose would be through injury or something. so he's a a 1.02 shot for me
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 2:13 PM GMT
Seems to be peaking now, does Andrew.
Report SwindonBoy November 6, 2009 2:14 PM GMT
i remember getting 1.62 on murray to beat fognini and 2.1 to beat starce in running, probably somes it up..
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 2:16 PM GMT
I didn't have pictures, but why was Murray 1.89 at 6-4 up against Gimeno? If it was because he was holding his back and grimacing, then these people must have never watched a Murray match in their lives.

Even remember looking at the market and he was 1.36 when 6-4 1-0* up. Most bizarre
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 2:17 PM GMT
I'd agree with you earlier in the year Jaap, but his performance during the middle of this year have been poor and littered with too many losses to players he should be beating.
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 2:19 PM GMT
Yeah, don't think he has played an aggressive match since Nadal match in Monte Carlo. Been lucky that mentally or physically weak opponents have folded for him.
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 2:19 PM GMT
What I've seen of him since he's returned he's become even more of a little spoiled brat on court than he was middle of this year. He's due a big big stupid loss, and if he thinks he's immune to those, I think he may have a shock coming very soon.
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 2:20 PM GMT
When he losses it will because of his mentality not his ability, I'd definitely not question that.
Report McChicken_Sandwich November 6, 2009 2:21 PM GMT
I agree with all these comments.

Havent been impressed with Murray for months.

Even the masters he won I thought he was passive and far too reliant on opp errors.
Report vila's sister November 6, 2009 2:22 PM GMT
ffs, at this stage of the match, play some *wow* shots, not some fcking moonballs
Report vila's sister November 6, 2009 2:24 PM GMT
can't see murray being favorite against davy
Report dionio November 6, 2009 2:25 PM GMT
imagine murray breaks his foot now
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 2:25 PM GMT
Thats the thing, Fed uses these sort of tournaments to try out a few different shots and hone his game for the big tournaments...........but Murray plays the same game all time.

Its frustrating..........because we have seen he can play as clean and flat groundstrokes as anyone around but chooses to play the same defensive game.
Report vila's sister November 6, 2009 2:26 PM GMT
np against montanes with 1 foot

What do you guys think would be the odds if Youhz met Murray in the final?

1.35 on the side of murray?
Report McChicken_Sandwich November 6, 2009 2:27 PM GMT
Is Murray the Jankovic of the ATP?

:D
Report McChicken_Sandwich November 6, 2009 2:30 PM GMT
I was/am a big Murray fan, but my faith in him winning a slam has dwindled hugely, unless he is able to comfortably play a more aggressive game when he needs it he's going to need a 'lucky' run to get that slam.
Report vila's sister November 6, 2009 2:30 PM GMT
can't see youzhny beating davydenko, think verdasco will beat robredo. Doubt it if murray will beat verdasco but if he does my money would be on davy in the final.
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 2:33 PM GMT
Yeah, odds against Davy (if they both win) could be interesting. If they both play to form my money would be on Davy.
Report brokendownsadlonelyhack November 6, 2009 2:34 PM GMT
If Murray is not careful, it won't be Fed he's compared to in the end but Monfils. Waste of talent!
Report Jaap November 6, 2009 2:36 PM GMT
I think Murray has already done more than Monfils will ever achieve, but its a fair point.
