First of all, a big thanks to Betfair for their continued generous sposorship of Greyhound racing..
A tricky opener, with just trials and breeding to go on. It’s anyone’s guess whether many of the going allowances for the trials are very accurate, so I would not read too much into the trial times. The best bred Greyhound to my eyes is Droopys Christian, who’s dam has thrown some fair sorts ...
The Hills sponsored Great North Run final was a very decent final and went the way of Anfi Gem. In an eventful final, Hesley Dingo hindered Droopys Arshavin a number of times and Droopys Arshavin looked most unlucky. Anfi Gem made the most of the trouble in front and stayed on to record a decent rating of 115. I’d think Droopys Arshavin would like a re-match some time soon. Droopys Master flew round Romford to record the fastest time of the year over Romford’s 575m for Seamus Cahill, recording a decent 107. Droopys Master is a litter mate of Droopys Hestor and his dam Droopys Maddy has thrown a high percentage of open racers. Droopys Belletti set the standard in the Betfair sponsored Yorkshire St Leger,...
On only 7th run in this country, Cagey Joe recorded an excellent 117 over Sittingbourne’s 500m. Cagey Joe has decent Irish form up to 686m, so obviously has the option of stepping up to 6 bends. Mill Pinpoint added the All England cup to his cabinet (won the Steel City cup earlier) running to a mark of 116. This is particularly commendable as a 4 year old, he run to within a length of his best according to my ratings. He beat a very decent field indeed here, which included Derby winner Bandicoot Tipoki, Coral Olympic winner and Sussex cup finalist Ballymac William and Yahoo Jamie. Brickfield Snow scorched around Sheffield to win a maiden by 6 ¾ lengths and record a rating of 116. This was a lot faster than anything...
Magna Buddy set the standard in the heats of the scurry, recording the fastest time of the year over Belle Vue’s 260m for a rating of 118. That makes it 11 wins, 5 of which were sprints, all in open company from 23 starts. He has also done well over 4 bends and reached the finals of the laurels back in September. The next fastest heat winners were the prolific winner Jimmy Lollie and Rotar Wing, both setting marks of 113. Ladrokes Gold cup winner Bucks Yahoo scorched round Nottingham to win the BetFred sprint trophy, recording a fine rating of 117 in the process.
On only his 3rd outing, Droopys Victor recorded a very fine rating of 112 over at Sheffield. Droopys Victor certainly looks one to note. Droopys Victor...
