The last selection was a lovely risk free trade pre race which should always be the primary aim. You're not holding any of the risk by laying off pre race. It's free money & should always be taken when available.

Moving onto Saturdays racing I have a few options lined up but one of the 1st has a price that I don't expect to last all night. In the 14.25 at Chester Storm Moon is a very speedy 2 year old colt who has run in a listed event & a group 2 already this year, last time out he ran in a similar race at Thirsk and very nearly made all only to be nabbed on the line by something coming from well off the pace. Storm Moon has the worst draw tomorrow at Chester which may be why he's been priced up at 9/2 (bet365) but I think he can get out quickly enough & cross in front of the field to boldly attempt to make all again.

However it happens his smooth traveling and very speedy style should at least give us a trade.

Storm Moon can be backed right now at 5.5* with Bet365 for 2 points, if you want 30% profit then lay off 2.6 points at 4.1 or if you're looking for 50% profit then lay off 3.05 points at 3.5.

Best of luck.

There is some significant pressure on the price of Dancheur in the 14.40 at Nottingham so it may pay to back tonight but ensure it's with a BOG bookie incase the price drifts tomorrow! There weren't many withdrawals in todays racing so the rule 4 deductions aren't too big a risk.

Dancheur attempted to make all last time out over 7f and was nearly successful and was just beaten into 2nd when she got tired at the end. She did have most of the field off the bridle with 2 furlongs to go though which allowed her to trade down to 1.12 in running. In this race she steps back to 6f and a repeat of the same tactics could just well be enough to win. The jockey booking of Tom Queally may or may not be significant but I think if the positive tactics are used again then we should get an easy trade.

Available to back at 9/2 (5.5) with Betvictor & Paddy Power now for 2 points, if you want 30% profit then lay off 2.6 points at 4.0 or if you're shooting for 50% profit then lay off 3.05 points at 3.5.

Best of luck.

A Quick August Profit Check

16 Aug 12 17:16
It's a good time today to do a quick mid-month profit check, the number of selections have been lower than usual as I was attending the olympics earlier this month.

Scarlet Whispers. No trade. -2 points
Miss Ellany. 4.0 down to 2.98. +0.6 point
Half A Billion. 5.0 down to 2.12. +1 point
Clear Praise. 5.0 and WON thereby trading down to 1.01. +1 point
New Falcon. 8.0 down to 4.5. +1point
Love Your Looks. 13.0 down to 2.5. +1 point
Chosen Character. 7.0 down to 5.0 pre race. +0.6 point
Travellers Tale. 10.0 down to 3.25. +1 point

Total = +4.2 points profit

So 7/8 successful trades and we're on a consecutive run of 7 winning trades so hopefully we can keep this up.

Thanks for following.

In the 15.25 at Sailsbury Travellers Tale for Richard Hannon is reunited with her usual jockey Richard Hughes and is a consistent type who is nearly always delivered with a chance between 2 & 1 furlongs from home. Owned by Her Majesty The Queen, Travellers Tale has been available to trade in each of her last 6 races and returns to her normal class of handicap today after an outing at Goodwood where her run was checked.

She can be backed right now for 2 points at 9/1 (10.0) with Stan James, if you want 30% profit then lay off 2.6 points at 7.2 or if you're shooting for 50% profit then lay off 3.05 points at 6.4 to give you a 1 point all round profit after commission.

Best of luck.

Looking to extend our winning run to 6 in the 15.15 at Newmarket. The Tom Dascombe trained Chosen Character is a gelding who has run himself into great form this year he rattled up a hat-trick and was only narrowly prevented landing the 4 timer in a similar race to todays at Brighton. There he tried to make all and ran with his usual enthusiasm, he goes unpenalised for that effort and teams up with the same jockey today.

Often the early bird catches the worm with these things but Chosen Character can be backed at 6/1 (7.0)* with Ladbrokes. If you're looking for 30% profit then lay off 2.6 points at 5.1. If you want 50% profit then lay off 3.05 points at 4.4 for a 1 point green screen.

Best of luck.

A progressive 4 year old filly called Love Your Looks was the 1st ever selection I ever put up on this blog in the 1st post that I made. She runs again today in the listed event at Sailsbury, the 16.05.

She's been hugely progressive and tough with a great attitude, this has seen her trade odds on in all 8 of her last 8 races. Today is a step up for her in grade but her progressive nature means that she's more than worth her entry, she just got collared near the line last time out but the top 2 had pulled clear of the field. The only slight doubt is the rain today because she hasn't run on anything softer than good to firm before, however her attitude should see her gamely try to make all which should give us our trade.

Love your looks can be backed now for 2 points at 12/1 (13.0) with Stan James on on here. If you want 30% profit then lay off 2.6 points at 9.4 if if you're shooting for 50% profit then lay off 3.05 points at 8.2 to give you a 1 point profit in all outcomes after commission.

Best of Luck.

PS Not an official selection for the blog as the price is way too short but in the the 15.00 at Sailsbury Black Monk looks like a valid favourite & can be backed at 7/4  (2.75) now also with Stan James. With Richard Hughes on board & from the plum draw today the 2 year old colt has traded to the following prices on his 4 starts to date: 1.13, 1.8, 1.22, 1.01. If you're a scalper or happy to trade from a much shorter price then Black Monk could be worth an interest but won't be included in any results records for our trading project.

An Unexposed Type To Trade?

13 Aug 12 13:56
The 15.30 at Kempton is a nursery handicap with many unexposed types so there isn't a great deal of form to go on. However in New Falcon I think I've found a progressive filly who has shown enough in her 3 starts to date that she will run at least well enough for a trade today.

She finished 2nd last time out without the rider getting serious at all and in her only previous run on the AW at Kempton she traded down to 1.8 and finished 2nd to an Ed Dunlop trained filly who went on to run in a group 2 race at Ascot.

She's drifting slightly in the market right now but is available to back at 6/1 (7.0)* with Bet365. If you're shooting for 30% profit then lay off 2.6 points at 5.1, if you would rather get 50% profit then lay off 3.05 points at 4.5.

Best of luck.

It pays to be drawn high at Folkestone because you can get out & grab the stands rail. In the 16.00 the gelding with the 2nd best draw is Clear Praise. In his latest races positive tactics have been used and if he grabs the rail we could be done & dusted very early. Haley Turner gets the ride again and last time she rode Clear Praise at Folkestone he traded all the way down to 1.16 so she knows how to ride the horse at this venue.

Clear praise can be widely backed at 4/1 (5.0)* for 2 points if you are shooting for 30% profit then lay off 2.6 points at 3.7. If you want 50% profit then lay off 3.05 points at 3.2.

Best of luck.

Another Rich Trade At Ponte

08 Aug 12 17:04
At Pontefract today the front runners have dominated proving that on the good to firm ground it pays to be up with the pace.

In the 17.30 this has caused the front running Half A Billion to shorten up all day to a current price of 4/1 (5.0) with Betfred. I think that when the gelding jumps out in the lead he should shorten up further & may even go on to win however should do enough to get us a trade.

Back for 2 points at 5.0 and if you want 30% profit lay off at 3.7 for 2.6 points. If you want to shoot for 50% profit lay off at 3.2 for 3.05 points to make 1 point all green.

Best of luck.

Looking for a trade in the 15.30 at Pontefract from Miss Ellany

The filly has traded on 5 of her 6 outings to date including to odds on the last 2 times out. In the same grade as this one, she's been unpenalised for her previous good efforts and can go well again with a jockey who has riden her before using positive tactics.

Miss Ellany can be backed widely at 3/1 (4.0) which if you're shooting for a 1 point profit can be laid off at 2.58 in play for 3.05 points. If you're more conservative then lay off 2.6 points at 2.98 for a 0.6 point, 30% profit.

Best of luck.
