Of course, it was just an example to make the point.

1.1 would be a mortgage job lay, because with a heavy hitter you'd also run slap bang into the "who the feck do they think they are" argument, they think they can roll out the big guns and the rest of us will be all starry eyed, which would reinforce their opinion of our arrogance.

So on refection we'd be fecked all ways round.Laugh

Trivia; the UK are ESC champions of second place, finishing runner up on no less than 16 occasions

1998 last 2nd place finish before last year, 1997 last win.

Last year was our best entrance for years I think. The song, vocals and staging - unreal. But of course there are biases etc!

Yeah, SMB, the results aren't announced until after the final so our funds aren't released until then!

it's not so much funds being held up that is an issue, but there being a result for four days and having to be in suspense about it ...
But I suppose they have their reasons for not declaring the results right after the semis, they don't want it to influence the voting for the final?

That and it would largely spoil the fun. The market is expecting Finland and Sweden to crush Norway and Israel and Czech tonight. If that happens and they found out they would lose all hope and as casual viewers it would be a turn off too. As it is, Norway and Israel and Czech will go into the final thinking they've a great song and a chance of victory. Great for the insiders too. If Sweden win the vote tonight the insiders will try to print as much money as subtly possible in laying Finland outright.

Their whole aim is to create as much suspense and drama as possible. The jury's add to that and then the algorithm for order creates that too. I'm sure there are insiders who will benefit and/or super boffins who recognise the running order for calling out results as which ones will come on strongly or weaken etc

Armenia at 2.48 for a top 10 finish seems value.

Bound to crash in if it's a good performance which we are fully expecting. Hope Malta qualify, cracking tune and performance that !

Yeah I was thinking of backing them earlier thinking this/that would happen. Not doing it at 3.7 though

Sweden really would be the worst winner for a while. If this wasn't Lorreen then I don't think this is top 3 in any other year

Sweden hugely underwhelming, the toastee maker staging a lot of fuss about nothing, didn`t work, just a mess

Finland will get 320 tele points no problem, SO I think around 450 total score. Just took 3k green from Sweden, but someone has to win

The crowd went ballistic for it though. And the jury will do what the jury do. A lot on this forum were saying the same about Euphoria !

Two mediocre songs and performances at the top of the outright market. That was not a performance that looked like it was about to win, especially with a lack of jury support.

Finland out to 4., Sweden in to 1.76

The Dutch song really sounded like a cheap rip off of Arcade, you could hear the heavy influence but it was instantly forgettable
