Love the fact Belgium are coming in after last night. Won't win of course but would be nice to see this finish well.
Everything stacked up for Malta to win tonight's semi but I've taken a punt on Cyprus at the better odds. Strange semi in the sense that the best technical singer is the only song you can probably rule out. Even Slovenia and Ireland could sneak in IMO despite what the odds say. Very touch semi - far tougher than Thursday's |

Ukraine for the win. The staging is absolutely superb If you are referring to Vasil and North Macedonia as the best technical singer, then I would agree and could see it as a shock qualifier |

They had the semi final 1 family show this afternoon and apparently ROXEN (Romania) did her best performance to date. After yesterday's sub optimal performance at the jury show (50% of final points) she'll need to peak tonight to try to scrape through as a qualifier. Very much up against it, but there is a glimmer of hope.

As you'll probably recall, EV is the only event in the reality world where my instincts can be way off beam on occasion. I can see that it's a credible offering and probably appeals to those following the event closely. I want to see the acts live before paying so hopefully there will be something I can take it on with. I suspect 'europe' would lap up something positive/hopeful this year, for obvious reasons, so I await to see if anything fits the bill.

One wonders if that will play a part in the judging too, along with perhaps a different audience. I'm think a Lena or stick man rather than moody Ukraine, or melancholy like Portugal. A feel good factor for europe.

History is against the two favs France and Italy since it's worth pointing out that the big 5 did most of their winning in the first 35 years between 1956 and 1990 with 12 wins. In the last 30 years they have had just 2 wins in 1997 (UK) and 2010 (Germany).
