I'm surprised hardly any of you Specials peeps trade cricket Test matches. There are plenty of them, there are only usually three outcomes to juggle, the duration is long enough for events to dramatically turn around yet you only have to wait at most five days to collect and, barring unexpected weather, you only mainly have to worry about things happening during the actual hours of play. You even get a lunch break. I got as much as 12-1 on India on Day 1 and they then went odds-on before heading into the stratosphere today Day 4. The Draw went from 7 to sub-4s to high teens and down to 12 all just on Day 1. Seriously, guys - it's easier, safer, faster money than this.

If the sun comes out and India don't lose another wicket before lunch the draw will collapse and you'll get on Eng for a Brown-Trouser Discount. Or lay Eng short after an early wicket and trade back for some free green to use later if runs start flowing. I'm never comfortable backing really short odds in cricket - unexpected things happen too often. Not having a bet is a viable "Specials" strategy when there are 30+ Tests a year.

Report LuckyAz September 10, 2018 11:37 PM BST
I would normally agree with you VV, according to WASP there's currently an 88% chance of an England win, what WASP doesn't know is the Indian players are totally deflated & already on the flight home.

You could always do a small hedge of the draw which is currently 11% by backing on the fall of a wicket for peace of mind VV.

I'm looking to increase my green on Eng using comedy draw green, or maybe even Edinburgh Festival-sized India green if they settle in for a bit. 300 to sub-100 won't take that much. But yeah being a dead rubber it's a lot to hope for.

Report LuckyAz September 11, 2018 12:14 AM BST
The way their wickets tumbled at the start of their innings says a lot about their state of mind, Kohli was the biggest threat & without him at the crease the tail will soon collapse.

I doubt it but hope they do hold out some resistance tomorrow & there is a draw plunge so I can lay the draw at bargain prices.

strange last week and final day market moves, final day the market hardly moved at all especially during live show..was up and down like a yoyo in the build up during the week.
trouble is every time ryan drifted and it looked like we might get a flip/flop the shrewdies gobbled him back down, prods knew he was so far clear he could never get caught...even after giving kirstie a final week of amazing edits !!
the power of punchgate was way beyond what most imagined on here and never got forgotten.
maybe that needs to go into bails rules thread !!
Report hemsby September 11, 2018 6:50 PM BST
When watching Punchgate unfold I quickly realised it was playing out well for Ryan.Iirc someone offered 6-7 on him during the incident and I took that turning him from red to green in the process.

The error I made was subsequently selling this green back in the low 4’s a short time later. At this stage we had no idea how OTT Roxy was going to go in her accusations and how Ryan was to receive an official warning.

Sometimes these series hinge on a pivotal moment. This of course was one such example and we ended up with an extremely underwhelming winner. In fairness to Ryan he handled the whole situation impeccably and his post success interview was top class.

The beauty (and the down side) to specials.Things change bloody quickly and if you’re not around at these tide turning moments you risk losing everything. No such excuses here though,I just didn’t foresee what a b1tch Roxy was going to be.

Nevertheless it was a decent series entertainment wise and as usual (courtesy mainly of army) a busy time for the forum.

Roll on XF,SCD and IAC Grin
Report armagnac September 11, 2018 7:19 PM BST
just too clarify you probably bought off tim at 6-7 and sold to me low 4's Grin
i missed anything over 5.2 tbh, was watching jaw open....but another downside to being in the right place at the right time is the serious lack of liquidity and the fact hardly any of us can get on anywhere else without closing accounts instantly.
still its all good fun trying to read how its gonna play out, i mugged myself off and changed my mind roughly 10 times in the final week and virtually got every trade wrong.
wish i just left alone as it cost me green but i just couldn't resist lol

on we go
Report Junction25 September 11, 2018 8:18 PM BST
I was RED on Ryan (9pm) on the night of Punch gate (I remember at the start of the programme his odds were drifting towards 5s) and has it was unfolding quickly turned it to green.Did help also Laying Kirsty at 1.80 .Then by time the show finished his odds were dropping like a stone
What is very very interesting  the producers seemed to like to do is try and have  competitive  final (top 2 fight it out for the win)-my view is they knew Ryan was going to run away with the vote  so they threw "the kitchen sink" at Kirsty and making sure she gets good edits -Kirsty Bar and giving her a fantastic task while Ryan was in his sick room

if you look at Jan 18 CCB they did the same thing with Shane (Courtney ) V Ann Widdecombe

Thats why i was confident having RED on Kirsty Final night
Report LuckyAz September 11, 2018 10:23 PM BST
It's so easy to call with hindsight but Army being the legend you are you had it bang on with your Ryan train after 'Punch Gate'. It was a storm better than the script writers could ever have dreamed of making national headlines with many seeing the Ryan vote as not a vote for Ryan but a vote against injustice only fuelled when Ryan was given his completely unjustified formal warning.

BB has a history of us voting against bullying & this was the ultimate bullying tactic to wrongly label someone a 'woman beater' which would have totally ruined Ryan & his career to the point it made him ill...either that or Hardeep food poisoned him.

Green aside TBH he handled it really well & deserved to win after braving a storm better BB could ever have hoped for & I think many voted for him as a vote against Roxy the ultimate bully.

@ VV I hope you managed to lay off your 'Edinburgh festival green' on India @ 10/1, test cricket is the only sport where you can see a 1000/1 shot get hammered into 10/1 within a couple of hours, but as I predicted the England win was never in doubt Wink
Report armagnac September 12, 2018 8:52 AM BST
haha Az Love

It was a battle of head over heart for me, i knew at the time it happened and the following few days ryan was a total cert (hence the thread) but my natural tendency and enjoyment to try and get favs beat, mixed in with my love for kirstie and the kitchen sink being thrown at her as J25 mentioned. Made me believe the market could flip for at least a little while...coz i think everyone knew come the live show ryan was gonna get backed right in down to the crowd and the mention of punchgate...which i think is why the drift never came, coz the shrewdies was never going too allow this.
also many shrewdies jumped ship from ryan too kirstie during the final week, ultimately he didn't just have manchester supporting him but a nation !!

would love to know the %, my guess is ryan won by a landslide but i still couldn't bring myself to red kirstie
Report LuckyAz September 12, 2018 2:02 PM BST
Army I think we were all hoping to see a flippage between the 2 favourites, especially initial Ryan layers like myself who got caught out after his 'Punch Gate' price plunge hoping the storm would all blow over by the final...pun intended.

But it blew up in the media just as you predicted & bigger than CH5 could ever have hoped for fuelled by Roxanne's poor acting in her interview on the Jeremy Vine show & Emma was clearly not falling for her act when she interviewed her, Emma was class stopping the interview when the crocodile tears started to flow.

Bear Grylls Celebrity Island being screened the night before the final reminded the 'celebrity' viewing public how much of a vile attention seeking self centred sociopath she is & I think would have boosted the casual vote for Ryan.

With 1.6M viewers tuning in for the final I would say the vast majority of casuals were watching after hearing about 'Punch Gate' & those in need of motivation to spend their hard earned 50ps to vote were motivated after seeing the incident again when Sally was shown the clip in her exit interview.

I think it was a comprehensive win & green aside well deserved after being put through hell on national TV, he handled himself really well when being interviewed on the Jeremy Vine show this morning despite being close to tears at points just thinking about his experience, best of luck to the guy & I hope he gets a CH5 show soon...as for Roxanne last seen applying for a job at a corner shop & being turned down.
Report armagnac September 12, 2018 3:06 PM BST
perfectly summed up Az, i couldn't agree more Cool just regretting how i traded the final week on a personal level, i remember waking up the next morning and ryan was 2.7 ish which i continued too pile into..from the moment he went odds on i simply gave back a sh1tload of potential profit.
but i guess i got lucky on the initial plunge being in the right place, unlike others who weren't so lucky... so all swings and roundabouts.
i too, like many others was red ryan pre-punchgate waiting for his drift too 1000..such a crazy series looking back and im sure most on here are saying what could have been.
i just hope now after all that happened we get the contracts signed and big brothers future is secured coz life without celebrity's cracking up on our screens and seeing A-Listers be so human like kirstie was would be a massive loss in my life Grin
Report LuckyAz September 12, 2018 3:38 PM BST
We've all been blinded by green at some point in our quest to make that elusive big win, long term backing value will pay off over short odd favourites, onto BB where hopefully we don't blow all the green we've made on CBB! Grin

@ Lucky - had already sold off a lot of it, but did OK overall. Very pleased to top up on Eng at around evens. Made back a modest chunk of what I lost on what I console myself as having been a Black Swan event (for me in particular a very badly timed one). The lesson to learn is not to risk 3 months profit on a potentially unsafe trade.

as for Roxanne last seen applying for a job at a corner shop & being turned down.
