veggie bacon is also known as fakon. i've tried a variety of quorn products, only because they were on sale and i am curious to see what they tasted like. the quorn mince wasn't great, a bit rubbery, quorn sausages were bland and tasteless. however the quorn chicken nuggets were good, they actually tasted like chicken and i fed them to my bro without telling him and he approved.

I'm rather partial to a quorn myself and I like the mince too. No idea how the compare with the meat versions. It's been decades since I've eaten them
Never eaten a chicken nugget, quorn or otherwise

Quorn is great and I have visited the place they make it...fascinating. Gave them some ideas re better marketing of what is a great product..I'm not in marketing just a smart arse. We use quorn mince in spaggy, mince dinners etc and it has fooled carnivores. TIP to Tom: only needs 12 mins to cook from frozen. Chicken pieces in stir fry takes about 2 mins. The quorn chicken pies are gorgeous....had 2 with mash, veg and veggie gravy last nightyum yum.

Funny how us veggies give up meat then spend the rest of our lives looking to replicate it.

ps Linda McArtney stuff is 99% shyte.

Why are you calling me shyte, George?

Talking of sausages I've just had a sausage toastie and my sausages had 98% meat in from m&s.
Wouldn't even think about eating all that cheap muck, Yuck!

The idea of a sausage is that it’s pulverised or minced meat mixed with fat, cereal and spices to be much cheaper than meat but taste nice.

So a “98% meat” sausage doesn’t make sense. Why not just serve it as a steak? Unless the meat is the Macdonalds type “meat” which includes hoofs, hair, eyes, bone etc – the whole animal goes into their shredding machines. I think that must be the case with “98% meat” M&S sausages.

A steak salad is very nice, as long as it's Aberdeen angus sirloin.

To each their own and I don't deny vegetarians their right to choice, but it's natural for us to eat animals and a little weird to say it's wrong to harm them.

Very interesting series on monkeys been on BBC4. Last one on now; they`ve just shown some Macaques in Thailand that pull out a strand of hair from passing human heads to use as dental floss! Amazing.

Animals have evolved to "hurt" ie eat each other. It's the basis for animal life on earth. (Even veggie animals eat plants that evolved from soil formed by dead animals amongst other things.)

So I guess that makes your whole philosophy a fraudulent vanity. But I'm sure it impresses outside of this forum. Wink

I stopped eating meat 15 yrs ago and I got really poorly. I had a cough for over a year and no energy.
Went for all kinds of tests, told I was asthmatic and given medication, nothing worked.
To cut a long story short I had anemia and the specialist told me I needed to eat more red meat.
Decided to ditch the medication, went to Barbados for 3 weeks and left my cough there Cool

I'll give you a nice healthy veggie meal George....When I make a roast on a Sunday. I buy a big cauli, broccoli, carrots and I use dried mushy peas. You can add cabbage or any other veg.....I put all the veg not used for the Sunday lunch in a bowl and chop it all up, then on the Monday pour It all into a frying pan with just a little oil and eat with either cold meat from Sunday or sausages and yorkie puds. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
