Terrible Outright Wager Is Essex

Unfortunately the exact same things that told me Charlotte couldn`r win CBB!
Nothing more informed or insightful than the fact that TOWIE and other such programmes don`t have a great history of throwing up winners. Even amongst their fellow cast members Charlotte, and now Joey, are both full-on extreme examples of their type. If `ordinary` TOWIE types can`t win, how would the worst ones win?
So, a pre-show 2.5 looked a screaming lay. At a perceived value price, I would have backed him
As I said in my OP, the main fear was help from TPTB, which has duly arrived. In bundles. So blatantly that, instead of being annoyed, I can`t help myself from laughing at it.
Assuming I`ve done my dough, but far from giving up hope.

I've seen a lot of towie and joey is easily the best character,also seen him on celebrity juice and you can see how popular he is.i thought he was a good thing to win this and as it stands I think davis is the only serious challenger,but anything can happen.looks like tptb are lining up joey for his own show after this finishes.

It's bizarre way to segment things. Lucy Goodgyear or whatever her name was was seen as a fat wanabree tramp, Mark Wright was seen as an egotistical tosspot, Joey Essex has a monster fanbase and is hugely popular with the masses.

As a betting strategy, possibly. I`m not sure, though, that it`s  bizarre to group all TOWIE members as a certain cardboard cut-out`type` All interchangeable  indistinguishable non-entities for me.

After the first week, all looked lost, and I gave up on it, assumed another max red loss, too late to get out of in any sensible way. In effect, laying him was only a 4/6 winner, so no big deal really, but always pleasing to see fakes and liars fully exposed.

I don`t think it`s the financial side that people are happy about, more the fact that TPTB have failed miserably in what must have been the most concerted ramping of a no-mark ever seen in Specials. And that really is saying something. Put it down as `one for the good guys`, ie. us lot.

Predicting producer influence is the biggest battle now in these markets. imho there's no point in moaning about it (not directing at tim). It is pleasing when they don't get what they want, however.

Who knows why, but there were clear signals Joey was being given up on by the prods. Did they run out of decent footage, did they only care about building interest around him at the top of the show. Was he underperforming in the vts. Keen was being given great edits for some time, which wouldn't have happened if all they cared about was Joey winning.

I imagine Joey was getting boring? Anyway probably combination of that and press criticism that it was becoming the Joey show. They would have thought it wasn't worth jeopardizing a mainstream ITV show for a future ITV2 show that may not even take off.

As always making a good show that people watch is their 1st priority

The first line is debatable for me, Fig. XF for example seems to be entertainment is secondary to the result at times.

XF is produced by SyCo.

There's only one reason for a song-off on xf this week, and it isn't for entertainment purposes (if it happens)

IAC is produced by ITV.

Promotion of a chosen one is definitely a strategy on IAC. The last three haven't won tho, winning isn't the be all and end all on that format it seems.

Generally, I suspect what happens on these shows is that they decided what they want the outcome to be, sit round a table and then try to design a decent show around that. There may be an over-riding mission from the EP.

TPTB obviously thought they could base the show around Joey but when they realised he had had run out of steam and the GBP were bored with him they cut him adrift.

For me Lucy has been the enigma this year. P1ss poor edit...evictees all saying they loved her...GBP kept voting for her.I'm a strong believer in the GBP en masse getting it right every time despite TPTB of any specials show trying to con them.  Plenty of examples. The final three here are the right three too.

OK, not always cider, but generally all they are interested in is pushing their favoured candidates as much as they can and then leaving it up to the public.
If they go too far, as they did with Jedward on XF or driving John Sergeant off Strictly and trying to nobble Chambers, then they lose viewers.

Ashley a prime example of someone they wanted to push on this, by giving her lots of coverage and the narrators role. Ultimately though they weren't going to leave out great coverage for Charlie, like the Kiki moments. Because it was good tv.
If all they cared about was Ash winning then they would have. Or given it less airtime at least

What we don't see on IAC is the cutting floor footage (although we often get a glimpse on Now!) for instance Steve collapsing would have 'entertaining' in any context, but they chose to leave it out. There's also the manipulation of the trials and tasks. For example Keen's phone number put in the hardest place to find deliberately I'd imagine.

Ones wonders when celebs are taken ill in these shows, whether they are involved in a discussion whether it gets shown or not; iirc these incidents mostly don't get shown so maybe it's a bit of a "rule" that they tend not to be or the celebs are even asked pre show.

Agree Cider it is  a gentle manipulation used to create narratives do feel a bit sorry for Lucy in the way she has been portrayed, but viewers rewarded her by vanquishing her nemesis Amy. I can tolerate these levels of manipulation but X Factor crosses the line time and time again saw my uncle (in his 70s) in town even hes telling me its a fix. You can get away with it sometimes but each time they are alienating a few more of their viewers.
Viewing figs for SCD up IACGMOOH up X Factor down year after year. It might be the format is getting tired but the arrogance of production really does beggar belief.
Hopefully Cowell will go through a review and sort the mess out.

Amy made out to be some kind of criminal by the prods, who must have 'allowed' her to have all the 'contraband'. Originally used to show her in a good light, then a bad light when she had served her purpose. Lucy had 'contraband' which she didn't give up originally either, which was conveniently forgotten.

Whether producing a good show, or producing the right result is very much a grey area for me. The order they are eliminated on IAC I would estimate is pretty much mapped out beforehand.
