Only one source atm & I could be accused of being slow if this is generally known but Parish is consulting with Warnock & Coppell. For me that makes Pulis a lay at odds on & Warnock & Coppell lays.

Also local reporter tweeted this morning that Warnock said when he last met him that he was not interested in a manager job again but he fancies being a DoF.

(I have no personal links to Warnock anymore since he moved from Beckenham.)

Follow the money but:

Pulis:  Totally logical. Lay at odds on but only to play the percentages.
Grant:  Maybe but unlikely. Lay
Coleman:  Will probably be out of work soon but nobody in their right mind would hire him. Lay
Di Matteo:  He's got some sort of lock in contract which was why he didn't take the Sunderland job.  Lay
Coppell:  Just cannot see him working again in Management.  Lay
MON:  A possible.  Not laying him.
Ralf Rangnick:  Not listed but a lay, he's turned down 2 EPL jobs so far no reason to suppose he would fancy this one.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink:  Some joker got him added, surprised they have not got Hope Powell added as well.

Souness:  Has stated on many occasions that he won't manage again.  What is the in the head of the back is beyond me. Lay

Good assessment.  Wouldn't lay Pulis at any price myself.

Independent guy says Warnock/Coppell may be looked at as dof.  Wonder if they do adopt a dof if they would then be ok with hiring a younger manager.

There we differ.  Everything has it's price. That's why I smash Murray for SPOTY at 1.03 and you don't ;~)

Sam Wallace at the Indy is deffo worth a follow for all things sensible but I cannot see he said that on his timeline Horangi.  Do you have a link?

Just trying to convince myself there may be a payday here but right now don't see it.  Comments from Parish still seem to indicate they want an experienced manager as well.

Only no go to Pulis would be the overnight style of play change.  Just a few days ago Parish was quoted saying they needed to keep the ball more to stay in the division.  Now they go grab Pulis who is almost the exact opposite.  But I guess when you're outgoing manager strongly recommends his best friend then all logic is lost.

Shirley honestly can't remember where I got it right now but it was in the physical paper (front page).  Somebody posted a picture of the front page last night.  Said Pulis was in pole position and it was almost he's to refuse.  Depressing stuff. lol

It's an interesting one as when I recently looked back at all my bets I'm getting something around 2-3x expected value from all 1.0x bets I place.

But think what you could make if you were more open minded Nige.

might go for something mental like Rene Meulensteen. He's been sniffing around for a job

Ticks a lot of boxes but as noted above not all.

Never going to be Muelensteen.

Ash, we are sensible down here are we not?  Not such a massive anti-Chalton feeling that would put off a pragmatist like Parish.

Wouldn't want him near the club for Charlton link and the fact he's out of touch wiht the game

Parish is sensible so I can't see him hiring somebody who has been out of the game for over 5 years

Ash could you remind me?  Are you the same one that got put away for a few months for a little contretemps with a few Millwall supporters in that nightclub on your right as you head down the hill from George Street to Surrey Street?

As I said last night Curbishley is a major player in this market.

Chairman has stated he is going to talk to quite a few candidates. So suggest Pulis is not a cert. Curbishley will almost certainly get an interview as he has declared an interest in the job.

In my eyes Curbs is a far better candidate than Pulis. He has been successful at Charlton without money and saved West Ham from relegation when he came in mid season.

Thats my view anyhow!

If anyone has a large bank you can be fairly sure Gareth Southgate won't be getting the gig.  Three year contract with Eng U-21's

I agree with you Meat Loaf.  Other than a bit of Pulis in the high 2's he's the only one I've also backed

@ShirleyKnot - Millwall???

From a  betting point of view Chris Coleman looks a decent price at 25/1

Has Premier League experience
Has experience of current football
Has an affilation with the club
Also never been releagted

He hasn't really got that much to do between now and September when the next round of qualifiers begin. He'll also get to see the likes of Williams, Gabbidon, Price a lot more

Pulis may be offered it but I don't really think he'll fancy it, Palace don't have his type of player and can't bring anybody in until January at which point the purse strings may be tightened with a view to next season and not doing a Wolves, Charlton, Leicester, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich, Southampton, Leeds and getting back into finacial difficulties and into a Championship relegation battle.

with the current squad a front six of Campana, Williams, Allassanni, De Silva, Appiah and Gayle would do some real damage in The Championship, if they had a solid defence behind them

Palace also seem to have an obsession with ex-players becoming managers so Lombardo at 100/1 doesn't look a bad bet

The obession is worrying tbh

Freedman
Dowie
Peter Taylor
Steve Kember
Terry Venables

The only other full-time managers I've seen us under have been

Coppell (4 times)
Alan Smith (twice)

Bringing back ex-managers is basically the same as ex-players, so the only 'brand new' not affialated people

Steve Bruce
Trevor Francis
Dave Bassett(played for Wimbledon)
Warnock
Holloway

Meanwhile MON is going short across the board.  Best fixed odds available atm, and by a country mile, are with the Betfair Sportsbook at 21.0.
By:

When: 25 Oct 13 14:27
Yeah the book here is real slow to adjust, I assume this slackness won't continue.  Limited time offer!

O'Neill fits as much as Pulis.  Probably a bit more desperate as well.

Don't know why they are so eager to get an experienced manager.  That list looks grim and lets face it their chances of survival are very minimal, no point wasting a couple years on a MON or Pulis as you kick and rush in the Championship.
By:
ShirleyKnot
When: 25 Oct 13 14:42
Manager sentiment is fickle Horangi.  It wasn't long ago that MON went in a fav for every job, including the England job. I rate him, he would be their best option but I just don't think he will go there. He's an obstinate difficult type and if even Pulis is saying he doesn't want to do it or live in London why should MON?
By:
Horangi.
When: 25 Oct 13 14:52
Because MON is older and his star has just about faded.  Its said he hasn't taken the Irish job because he craves another chance at top level club football.  His chances of getting a decent job will get worse as time goes by.  Didn't he finish up at Sunderland as a bit of a disgrace?  Read stuff about him hardly showing up to the training ground in the later days before his dismissal.

I really believe there is a good chance Palace seek not only a manager but a DOF as well.  With Freedman leaving and now Holloway quitting partly due to exhaustion its fair to say the structure at Palace may not be the greatest.  Parish has even admitted such in past and I think it may be finally time they split the duties.  Coppell would seem the ideal fit for DOF, if he was interested.  Current DOF at Crawley and of course Palace legend.  Also likes the attacking football which the current ownership have claimed they want to be known for.  If they went this route then just perhaps younger, imo more interesting options could be considered at manager.
