Eastenders have a Kat, Alfie storyline that should see them top again.

Only one other appeals at the prices

From Wiki comes distressing news!

Breaking from the series' pure documentary format, the film does not include footage of the project meerkats depicted in the story. Instead, wild meerkat "actors" represented Flower and her family; Flower was depicted by approximately eight female meerkats. The camera crew sought out appropriately aged meerkats for each scene, then filmed them until they behaved in ways the script required.

I'm devestated!

EE vs Downton is surely going to split the audience as they go head-to-head?

I know we had similar discussions last year, can anyone remember the actual figures?  If not, I'll do some digging myself and re-post them here later...

Christmas Day Overnight Viewing Figures 2011

    EastEnders – 9.9 million
    Coronation Street – 9.0 million
    Doctor Who – 8.9 million
    Downton Abbey – 8.1 million
Strictly Come Dancing – 7.5 million
    Absolutely Fabulous – 7.4 million
    Emmerdale – 6.7 million

Viewing figures were down across-the-board this year.

Downton looks a right s0dding marathon and maybe spans over the period when day visitors are getting ready to leave and head off home.

Programme looks stupid as well as they're all off on Summer holidays - set in the Summer, not at Crimbo.

Are the viewing figures just for those that watch it live or does it include those that record it to watch later. I'm guessing many would save Downton.
Apologies for ignorance.

Downton 'won' last year after all figures were taken into consideration. As squares points out it's likely too long and on too late to win overnight figures. Looks like EE is about a million down currently to this time last year.

Call The Midwife was battering EE earlier in the year. Staring Miranda Hart Laugh Value play at 20-1, imo. Also SCD @ 40-1. EE is value to be toppled. My requested stakes were declined Plain

Doctor Who a real contender for me given it's opposition, and the fact it's the first real show with the new companion.  Corrie VS Call the Midwife, and Eastenders VS Downton will see splits again.
By:

When: 16 Dec 12 13:43
I agree Popking, but DW on just that bit too early to top the ratings. An hour later and it could have been a play...  This looks like a tough market with the splits, thought EE is opposable.

The audience share is also well down though, meaning people were watching TV at that time, just a range of other things.

Yes, I just worked that out too Cider.  Hmmm.  DW is kinda event TV though so could buck the trend.  I am happy to oppose Eastenders this year anyway.

Huge disparity in the soap prices considering there was only 600k in it last year.
By:

I think it's based on the fact that Eastenders have the whole Kat/Alfie fallout and the Derek murder stuff and Corrie have next to nothing of note that I know of.  Most EE fans I know are bored already.

EE is down YOY, moreso than CS.

SCD is hugely on the up this year and has less oppo than last year.

SCD better time slot than DW I think, but be wary of the hype saying that the show is well up on viewing figures.

Here's the overnights for the semis in the last three years:

2010 - 10.58m
2011 - 10.96m
2012 - 10.36m

In 2010 SCD made 9.6 million from a 7pm start, up against Coronation Street. EE that year was up against FF!. DW was up against Emmerdale @6pm

SCD looks a knocking value bet @40-1

Cracking bet at the prices. Sure to be a lot higher than the 7.5m that tuned in last year I would think.

Got £3.65 on! Wink
