I've got on the Military Wives Choir @ 10/1(only let me have £10, peevish people), they went straight to 6's.

Chris Evans has started a campaign to get them to number one for Xmas. (He gets 10,000,000 listeners). The X-Factor single comes out 2 weeks before Xmas this time, which really helps things. People wil buy Nirvana that week as well? (Is that a RATM thing?)

Report alanjz December 23, 2011 11:41 AM GMT
got it, I'm thinking
Report LendUsAFiver December 23, 2011 11:53 AM GMT
My midday analysis:
1) Donkey is now selling well over double Cannonball in the downloads on iTunes so if alanjz's download v physical sales are correct then Donkey easily has this in the bag.
2)Donkey social networking chatter has gone through the roof this morning.
3) Cannonball is on a downward sales trend while Donkey continues to grow.
Report Mr Ed December 23, 2011 11:54 AM GMT
when do the figures go up to for the chart?
midnight saturday?
Report alanjz December 23, 2011 11:58 AM GMT
yes, midnight sat
Report alanjz December 23, 2011 12:01 PM GMT
1)there are no sales figure, actual numbers on itunes, they could make the chart up
2)probably
3)no
Report Dizzy42 December 23, 2011 12:03 PM GMT
I still stand by my own personal (completely subjective and unsophisticated) analysis that the donkey downloads will drop off a cliff tomorrow when there's no Breakfast Show to plug it, while physical sales of LM will peak on Saturday as a last minute stocking filler...

If this was a race for the number one spot, I think that the donkey could have picked up momentum to carry it to the top - as people would have thought it was a good fun Christmas novelty alternative to the usual X Factor garb.  But with the top spot already sorted, will anyone really care that much about number two for Lou?
Report LendUsAFiver December 23, 2011 12:04 PM GMT
Alan, Connonball has fallen from 2nd to 4th in the on-line downloads, how on earth can you justify that Cannonball is not on a downward sales trend?
Report Dizzy42 December 23, 2011 12:05 PM GMT
There is no evidence that the donkey is on an upward sales trend either!  As far as I can see it peaked on Tuesday.
Report alanjz December 23, 2011 12:09 PM GMT
you don't have any sales figures, you're obsessed with itunes, they are only one of a myriad of places to download tunes from. There's no doubt Donkey will sell more on download, that has never been in dispute, but LMs downloads are less than 50% of it's sales. NB, I'n not saying you won't win your bet, I'm just giving you the actual sales figures.

The reason not many people buy singls, is because not many are released. I think at least half the problem with the Donkey is that it's pretty rubbish. LM, for everything you might say, is current and some people like it. What you say fiver is right, only a small increase in sales for Donkey would have sealed it, but the fact is, no-one really cared enough, and the donkeys sales were pretty much as expected.
Report Claret85 December 27, 2011 12:59 AM GMT
