36 hours ago and I wouldn't know her from Eve.  Today I say she wins X Factor.

What are the reasons? Let me count the ways:

1. Arguably the best voice this year and for all the pap talked about this it IS ultimately a singing competition.

2. The field is very weak.  Sophie has fewer weaknesses but that is to do less than justice to this girl's talent.  Even in a strong year she would be there at the business end.

3. She is driven.  You could see the acknowledgement of that in Kelly's eyes. A week ago she was a karaoke singer but she knew and now we know she is meant for the world stage.

4.  Those who know know [;)].  Kelly is in awe of her.

5. She may not be TCO but Kelly will protect her like a tiger mum on speed.

6. She is beautiful. She has the eye's of a superstar. This is a potential worry as I could be gambling with my d1ck again  Laugh.  However after 4 cups of tea with bromide in each I can still see she is ethereally gorgeous.

7. She is not the sort of woman women won't vote for.  See the reactions of the women in the audience at bootcamp. Teens won't be alienated by her; she is aspirational.

8. She has gone in under the radar but it is fate she is there now. Cream always rises to the top.  You cannot stop an idea (or person) whose time has come.

9.  She is of Greek descent.  You can talk of regional voting but the one thing the ESC teaches us that the Greek Diaspora vote is huge.

10. There are many other reasons but I'm getting tired now. I will finish by saying she has incredible artistic credibility.  She is no puppet like other winners. See her song choice at bootcamp for validation.  XF is just the start of her doing the music she wants to do. Her contract won't be cancelled after a year.

So that's it.  We are all about to head for outer space.  Tickets for the first 100 are available at 14s+.  If traveling at the speed of light sounds scary you can always get off at Neptune and trade your tickets at 4s.

But that is for the faint hearted.  Why settle for the moon when we can have the stars?

all about opinions chaps and i respect a lot of yours , ive been very disappointed with janet the last couple of weeks and she needs to improve and quickly but you really shouldnt be writing her off , probably the only contestant capable of going up another level from here , whether she does or not remains to be seen and this is looking more open by the week

and i couldnt have one direction at all , i was on cardle from the start and my original gut instinct was that janet was a more likely winner even than him , shes been disappointing but she really has very little to beat here if she gets it right

GB2 - bad luck mate.  I admire your tenacity, courage, determination and commitment to the cause...

But ultimately I hope you managed to hit the ejector seat and get out of this spaceship before it hit the asteroid.

The warning signs were all there for everyone to see - TPTB will manipulate the public vote to the very death.

Sadly Sophie joins a long line of sacrificial lambs sent to the slaughter to join the likes of Lucie and Laura.

Ah well, it was good while it lasted (but never let your d*ck rule your head again, alright?!).
Report johnnyrant October 30, 2011 11:42 PM GMT
I have a big 4 figure green on Sophie on Outright and not unhappy about it - see no point laying at 36 or whatever for a meagre 100 quid back, in the process wiping out the potential profit. If she'd escaped the hatchet job tonight, she would have gone shorter again.
Given the abysmal quality of this year's contestants it was a gamble worth taking.

It's just that her voice suited the songs she chose for herself but wasn't really suited to the songs she was given.
Generally to do well in X Factor requires a degree of versatility that Sophie didn't possess
.

Agree with Zoom here. I feel her singing yet another cover of a Birdy cover in the sing-off last night (this time a track from The xx, following the Bon Iver track at bootcamp) is an indicator of musical limitations too. More of an artist wouldn't be 'following' in that way and covering two tracks that have just been covered already. By the same artist.
Report GeorgeBrush October 31, 2011 8:54 AM GMT
Whatever the song choice, thought she was excellent last night. She may as well go out doing what she wants to do, and the song was a perfect match for her. 4-0 was a shame but inevitable, even if Misha had sung the Chicken Song

that's utter tosh.  we all have opinions granted but the only FACTS we have is she got nowhere near winning.  She was 10th of 12 voted by maybe half a million voters.  not just you and three or four others on here.

She was poor every week you must see that.  I don't have one penny on misha and never have but surely you can hear who the better singer is by a country mile...... and that's just one act I'm highlighting.

She was 10th!!  What next ........  Fulham were the best team in the league last year because they finished 10th!

Lou - you astound me. You fail to grasp a basic element of XF - they manipulate the voting public. They have got it off to a fine art. But say when Nu vibe got voted off or Sammi did ....... was their a conspiracy then?  Were they stitched up?  If not then why doesn't exactly the same apply fr Sophie.

The public vote their favourites and Sophie was one of the bottom 2.  the others all got more votes FACT.

Have you EVER backed a horse, dog, football team, X Factor act etc etc that was justly beat or every time do you say "blah blah blah" they were robbed, stitched up"

I'm a big Man Utd fan and they were thrashed 6-1 by City last week.  Were they unlucky, robbed, stitched up? ............... no they were simply beat fair and square by a better 'act' and got 'voted out' as it were.

Lou, yes, Nu Vibe and Sami were also stitched up. The show has 'managed' the bottom 2 this series like the seasoned pros they now are. There are no end of clever elements TPTB use to try and ensure they get the bottom 2 they want, or at least one in the bottom 2 they are happy to see the back of.

So tell me something.  Has anyone EVER been simply voted off by the public as being the worst act that night?

It seems when someone's voted off each week there's all these theories you put forward when it could just possibly be (this is a wild guess, I'm sure I can't possibly be right amem wink) that they counted the votes as the acts sang to the best of their abilities and the one with the fewest therefore had to go.  I know it's a billion to one chance what I'm saying but any chance whatsoever .........

Report George Bailey November 3, 2011 8:09 AM GMT

Fair enough I take your point and to be fair I'm sure some of what I've read in the past from Figgy and George Brush is decent and helpful but I just don't understand when you say 'they don't mean any harm' for a start George especially has said some horrible thing and I'm often mailed that he still does.  Why is that I can't even read what he's writing and leave him alone completely.  I've told him I've had enough by blocking him so why persevere when i can't even 'fight back' as it were.  I said before that someone could remark on the colour of Dermott's tie and my name would get dragged into it with some derogotory remark ....... why?

Even when yu say they 'don't mean any harm' why do it in the first place.  Why deliberately go out to goad and upset someone?  I just don't understand it I'm sorry.
