from DS headlines:

'Strictly Come Dancing' return details confirmed.

Strictly Come Dancing will kick off its ninth series with a double bill at the end of September, the BBC has announced.

Following on from the successful introduction of a launch show last year, the new bunch of celebrities will be introduced to viewers in early September.

Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly will host the special red carpet event, which will be recorded on the afternoon of September 7.

The first live shows will then take place on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. Following the double bill, the live shows will then continue on a weekly basis.

The BBC has also confirmed that the show will be broadcast from Wembley Arena on November 19. Details on how fans can buy tickets to the special episode, in aid of Children In Need, will be announced soon.

The series will conclude with the live final on December 17, which, for the first time, will be staged in Blackpool's Tower Ballroom.

May I ask a question of the 3 wise men? Isn't Harry a bit short at 1.33 given that this will be decided on a phone vote?

Don't know to who you refer but its seasonal at least. I probably rank in the wise men's a-ss category but FWIW yes I think he's too short

Why? well for one thing Chelsee still has the lead on the DS SCD thread and a sizeable one. I think there may be a winners poll (not sure) but I'd be surprised if Chelsee didn't top that It has had the final result correct every year bar Darren Gough and to be fair to them they didn't know Colin Jackson "puppet gate" was going to happen

Personally I find Chelsee adoreable and the best natural dancer. The two dances she has after the one elimination are real crowd pleasers. If she was male Laugh she would hose up imo Silly
Report GeorgeBrush December 15, 2011 11:34 AM GMT
If she was male she'd be as popular as Whittle Wink
Report five leaves left December 15, 2011 11:35 AM GMT
Silly She's come across a great. A little bundle of fun.

Of all the women who have taken part I'd only have Jill Halfpenny beating her in a public vote.
Report GeorgeBrush December 15, 2011 11:37 AM GMT
Couldn't agree with that tbh. I think they'll struggle to even get her close tbh. As long as they get her past Jason it'll look like a contest, and of course we'll never know Cry

Pimp slot. A crowd pleasing dance and a perfect 40.

They did the same with Whittle.
Report GeorgeBrush December 15, 2011 11:51 AM GMT
Yeah, I shouldn't be surprised really. They also gave Alex the 'well done, end of journey' speech. The audience seem to fall for it everytime. Colleen maybe the finest example
Report GeorgeBrush December 15, 2011 11:52 AM GMT
Jason's dance the worst 40 yet btw?  I thought he looked like a constipated parkinsons victim. If that is possible
Report Dizzy42 December 15, 2011 12:59 PM GMT
Isn't the Argentine Tango a difficult one to take on again in the final?  Does anyone know if this dance has been tackled in the final before?

Don't play this anywhere near as much as XF, but I'm on Harry at 5/1 from the start as well as the 16/1 McFly IAC / SCD double, so it would seem sensible to take the 3s Chelsee on offer to hedge now, especially after her perfect score last week and those dance choices.

I don't want to get burned like I did with Kara last year!  The 7/2 Chelsee / Harry forecast still looks decent value as well...
Report squares December 15, 2011 1:21 PM GMT
Looks like it was only introduced into the show after about three series, and then up until last year was a dance they all performed in the semi final.

Hold that opinion - thought that was the case from how I understood ITT this week

However DS is saying If the format is the same as last year , the couples will dance the judges‘ favourite first, then the showdance and the final 2 will then do the unlearned dance followed by their favourite dance

Sorry Dizzy

Although we haven't seen the show dance, One Night Only is a great song choice to get those phones ringing for Chelsee.  A real stirring uplifting number - I can see her smashing it, whereas Great Balls of Fire is a bit passe.  Could seem dull by comparison...  Pure conjecture of course.

DS Winner's poll:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1600422

A few will know I have been saying DS is actually a good guide for SCD as it more closely matches the voting demographic than most other programmes. This poll has also had the winner every year except for Darren Gough and I think its fair to say Colin Jackson, the poll leader, would have won without the ridiculous showdance referred to now as Puppetgate Laugh

However I can't agree with its result indicating the winner(so far) this year although it may at least indicate the current odds are too strongly in Harry's favour. Its a public vote after all that decides the outcome and as I post this she has 58% of the vote.

If they do get it right again and Chelsee wins then I'll never question it again Cool

Useful to know but can't think of a less clued up audience and very unrepresentative of voters. Up until Robbie's elimination I bet they thought he had a decent chance though I never listen to it.

Personally think Harry will get over the line but expect big show from Chelsee and she possibly may outscore Harry.  Very confident of a big Harry drift and Chelsee plunge.  I would even up on Chelsee GB at that stage personally.

from The Star

There could be a very different line- up this time next year. Producers are keen to keep things fresh so quite a few faces could be dropped

A show insider
18th December 2011
By Deborah Sherwood & Ed Gleave

A HOST of Strictly Come Dancing stars face the axe in an end-of-series clear- out, we can reveal.

Dancers enjoyed a late-night bash knowing it was the last time they would be together.

Sexy Ola Jordan, 29, and husband James, 33, have been earmarked for the axe over backstage rows.

A show insider last night revealed: “There could be a very different line- up this time next year. Producers are keen to keep things fresh so quite a few faces could be dropped.

“It’s going to be brutal for some of them. But that’s the way it works when you’re on telly’s top show.

“The only ones who have been discussed are Ola and James at the moment. They might be liked by viewers but that may not be enough to save them.”

More than 12million people tuned into last night’s live final at Blackpool Tower Ballroom, which saw all the contestants and professionals return for a group performance.

But Ola and James’ public spat with judge Craig Revel Horwood, 46, left their future in- volvement in doubt.
James lashed out on Twitter after hearing he and Ola had been dropped from the live UK tour, which kicks off next month.

He ranted: “Just received an E- MAIL to say we are not needed!”

But just days later Craig, who is tour director, hit back: “James needs to reel his head in. He’s being incredibly selfish and rude moaning on Twitter about not doing the tour.

“Why should Ola and James always get to do it? My advice to them would be to quit moaning, reel your head in and get on with it.”

Karen Hardy, 41, and Camilla Dallerup, 37, have been axed in the past despite both winning the title.
