Well, this has been the trickiest series I've known for trying to get an edge on the markets. Ahead of the show, fwiw I think it's between Chloe and Laura for the crown. I'll just be happy to bow out of this series on a winning note. Good luck all
WHAT?! Laura is skating after the break!? Doesn't that give Sam a ton of more time to get votes? Sam will win, not that I mind, I don't have any remaining bets :D

Laura was about 33% more popular than Sam before the show started, will it continue now? I don't know. But if you do, Laura is available at about 3/1 in places

me too squares. Sam and Laura I both punted on big pre-series and in early weeks. Then eroded away most of my potential profit piling onto others, and convincing myself Sam would be beat after the Heat scandal. I'm not even sure exactly where I stand now Sam is a definite loser for me, so to conclude a poor series for me I expect he'll win.

Thank God Chloe went out 3rd place, reclaimed my cash, I've finished this series with an £84 loss after a disastrous week where I lost £1500. All I can say is PHEW.
Fun times, people. See you at BGT!

agree GB. ITV are total eejits for giving him the bullet in the final 4. So, so predictable. These shows should not always be won by the best. There has to be room for a journey contestant. Otherwise, you may as well not bother.

Yea, I'll be back for BGT. I do well on that! To be fair, I would of done well on this had the Fauzmance thing not thrown me the bleeding curve ball of the decade!

Nah, haven't bothered fig. Only ever taken a marginal interest, and AI has been fun so far
I think I did market-make on it a couple of years ago. Probably should again but a bit late now

Lots of fun and hopefully value as each country reveals it's song. We know them all now, so I can't see any huge moves til the rehearsals.
For me the front 2 are poor favourites.

22k lower profit that the first 3 months of 2010 and the 5th succesive month I've made less than the month before...which is a first in 8 and a half years

Hard to have much sympathy CB given the size of the figures, but I'm in the same boat, even if it's a significantly smaller one.
Hopeful for AI and ESC though

Fvcking hate watching it, and I've never lost, but never had a decent win either
What's the latest on BB fig?

vie leaves, do any firms do AI/SYTYCD in running?!
Would be nice if they did - I work nights so AI would be ideal in running

DOI has never been any good for me either. Only slightly down on last year overall and that's after having the worst week I've ever had on the weekly markets. It was deciding to lay all the favourites in the Brits that has hit me and the lack of CBB.....and no, it's all gone quiet again with regards BB

my yearly schedule is specials athletics swimming and the bdo darts and football Henry. On any olympic year you can add the winter olympics, commonwealth games and on any election year the US or GB election.
athletics and swimming by far my fave tbh but unfortunately mainly amount to one week each and this year they are both in the far east which means lower turnover
football is 90% trading everything else is 90% betting.

thanks

My profits on football are probably similar to last year map but I've spent a lot more time on it this time round and I'm definitely finding it more difficult.

Very true zoom and it's a mistake I constantly make.
Very hard to win or even get to the final of these shows unless you are one of the best 2 or 3 skaters/dancers/singers. However likeable you are and however unlikeable the good ones are.
For starters you just don't get to see enough of their personality for their annoying traits to be exposed to the majority of viewers.

I suspect alot of the damage was done last week where she was clearly the 3rd best. This week she had to be at least on a par with Laura, which I thought she was in the showdance but the judges picked up on every tiny error and then in the 2nd dance Laura got the maximum score.
As you say it's not Big Brother and the majority of people tend to vote on merit when it comes to the latter stages. Unless someone is particularly unlikeable or annoying.

The annoying thing is that the most popular can still be removed in this format even if they top the vote....
Not saying he was, but it's perfectly possible

Had very little interest in this year's series on the OR market - should have done better as backed both McLaughlen and JB early on at decent prices and should deffo have done better trading the latter. But had a nice win on only other bet of series - male winner. Couldn't bring myself to watch the final (watched a horror film with the missus instead) and turned over to see the result, which was nice little surprise. Interesting to read through this thread after the event, seems there would have been plenty against Sam right until the end, a very tough year IMO.

Well a small win here having been all green going into the final, but god it was dull this series. Last DOI for me too, I usually win money, but lose a little bit of my soul watching such insipid televisual crap. I also do politics and rugby, and find rugby gambling a trading joy because of the liquidity and low spread. Politics has a great gambling period ahead with US primaries, POTUS 2012, London mayoral race , AV vote referendum, Welsh referendum, numerous by-elections caused by thieving scum MPs. I think specials gambling is losing its appeal for me: IACGMOOH insider trading, DOI being unwatchable, BB gone. Just SCD and XF left: SCD quite a thin market, XF better but desperately long and tedious to keep track of.

AV vote referendum is poised on a knife edge, polls put it 50:50. I dont think anyone wants the referendum, not the two main parties, not the electorate. People could well vote no just because AV is insane and way too complicated and expensive. But the low turnout is likely to favour yes2AV, as only the diehards reformists will bother vote at all. Recent referendums have voted yes, and I think there is a natural tendency for people to just agree when offered a proposition, you see this with groupthink in meetings. Tough to call at present, I am waiting for more polling data before lumping on, but I have a stake on yes at present, at good odds.
