Report Cider December 19, 2010 9:07 PM GMT
Without the RFC stuff it might have been interesting.

At the prevailing prices of 6-4 and 40-1 it was a no-brainer of who to back.

Outside of betting, a worthy winner.

From survation 5 mins ago [>o]

Pretty accurate I suspect

Thank you for participating in our live Sports Personality of the Year poll this evening.

The results were as follows:

Tony McCoy               23.4%
Phil Taylor             20.3%
Jessica Ennis          15.6%
Amy Williams    9.4%
Tom Daley               7.8%
Graeme Mcdowell 6.3%
Lee Westwood    6.3%
Mark Cavendish  4.7%
Graeme Swann    3.1%
David Haye             3.1%
Report Pirate Army December 19, 2010 9:08 PM GMT
Something has to change. The award is now officially a farce.
Report five leaves left December 19, 2010 9:09 PM GMT
Yep, 3 people have dominated their sport, 2 of them for over a decade.
A shocking result,,lol

Report paddletoe December 19, 2010 9:13 PM GMT
Fully deserved winner. No one should question the credibility of horse racing as a sport. AP has been the difference to more photo finish wins than any nh jockey to even sit on a horse.
Report Pirate Army December 19, 2010 9:13 PM GMT
Imagine if you could multi vote in a general election! One person - one vote, it's the fairest way.

Report Cider December 19, 2010 9:14 PM GMT
tbh, who cares ! it's simply another (very good) betting opportunity.
Report George Bailey December 19, 2010 9:15 PM GMT
Then what is point of "life achievement" award?
Report five leaves left December 19, 2010 9:15 PM GMT
for people who don't win the pv :)
Report George Bailey December 19, 2010 9:15 PM GMT
Agreed Cider and possibly the easiest to make money on with the least effort needed.
Report George Bailey December 19, 2010 9:18 PM GMT
Actually I suspect taylor would have much prefered picking up the LA award than finishing second and mccoy as well. Nothing dodgy about it and proper recognition for all their efforts over the years.
Report mach December 19, 2010 9:18 PM GMT
as with all public phone votes you cant control the motivation of the voters, life achievement or other wise is fine with me
well done AP
Report George Bailey December 19, 2010 9:21 PM GMT

Report five leaves left December 19, 2010 9:39 PM GMT
I've never really looked at new followers. You could be on to something though GB2

McCoy was doing well on basic searches. Only Phil was beating him with Ennis 3rd.
I'm kicking myself for not backing her for top 3.
Report five leaves left December 19, 2010 9:40 PM GMT
layed the unknown golfer for top 3 though :)
Report George Bailey December 19, 2010 9:43 PM GMT
She was my main bet really though I had her green in o/r as well. No chance to trade.  Best response from the audience at beginning for me and all the polls said she would get same % as last year so always in the hunt.

Only proper athlete and that is a big vote class plus only 2 women so "sisters" on board. I lost bottle and stopped backing when she drifted at end..could have filled my boots really..what did she end up at in top 3...4s or something I think.

I did flag her up in running but it all passes too quick I guess.
Report kincsem December 19, 2010 10:15 PM GMT
Is this a racing industry "popularising the sport" campaign that might become known as race fixing?  It might backfire long-term.
Report George Bailey December 19, 2010 10:17 PM GMT
Will just reinforce GBP perception that racing is bent methinks. Big own goal. Especially if he wins by big margin.
Report roach December 19, 2010 10:33 PM GMT
Gamble nearly landed tonight, I'd say. Bet it was close.

Ennis top 3 (thankyou Twitter!) covered my losing Amy & Power O/R bets.
