Very Silly imo that the market is decided by snowfall on the day (which only a couple of beardies in meteorogical labs might be aware of) rather than settled snow on the ground, as the latter would be anyones definition of a White Christmas (which itself is a layman's term rather than a scientific one).
The Irony is that bookies only probably brought in the snowfall on the day rule as there was probably hardly any interest in the market years ago , as you just couldn't envisage a genuine White Christmas (settled snow) but it was more likely that a few snowflakes might fall to earth on the otherwise bare pavements .
