Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg December 5, 2009 10:00 PM GMT
can someone please explain why darcey was brought in??
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:00 PM GMT
she wasn't great, but she was a decent person.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:01 PM GMT
Karen too good for SCD - going to Oz to judge world championships.
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg December 5, 2009 10:01 PM GMT
deserved to go and tbf to alesha that samba was a shambles
Report maiaze December 5, 2009 10:01 PM GMT
why is the convict a lower price than mincey ?
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:02 PM GMT
Think Darcey is over here on a jolly/plugging something and BBC thought it would up the profile of the show to have a serious dancer, albeit a ballet dancer who knows nothing about ballroom and latin, on the show.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:02 PM GMT
Salsa ?
Report five leaves left December 5, 2009 10:02 PM GMT
That's what makes the show Dennis.
Why don't we have 12 young, fit, soap actors and actresses, with no personality competing next year.
At this rate we probably will.
No one will be watching though
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:02 PM GMT
imo - Alesha is not a natural judge - but thrown in the deep end by the bbc. They are just desperate to match xf.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:03 PM GMT
if you want a dance show about dancing prowess go back to Come Dancing on a Monday or Tues night about 11 pm.
Report maiaze December 5, 2009 10:03 PM GMT
No one will be watching though

ohhh yes we will ( it is panto season after all )
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:04 PM GMT
These judges don't act like professional judges with all their pantomime comments and hamming it up, it's all about entertainment.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:04 PM GMT
Ray film on ITV now (Jamie Fox as Ray Charles) - anyone seen it ? Supposed to be good?
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:05 PM GMT
lol just wath Len on DWTS vs SCD. A complete fraud.

Report five leaves left December 5, 2009 10:05 PM GMT
Put it on after 11 and they could do some pole dancing.
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:05 PM GMT
Yes it's very good squares. Quite long tho iirc.
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg December 5, 2009 10:06 PM GMT
but its a difficult balance fll. ok so u need a few duffers for the entertainment value but if u keep having the duffers knocking out the decent dancers the show loses all credibility and there would be a lot of people (i.e. pro dancers etc) who would start getting p1ssed off. and whats the point in working yr arrse off in training if some lovable duffer (eg js) keeps getting through??
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:06 PM GMT
not up to a long one atm :(
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:07 PM GMT
Fox is brill as a blind man. SP it.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:07 PM GMT

Report maiaze December 5, 2009 10:08 PM GMT
personally i think they have the balance right and for me though i havent allways won i believe that nearly all the winners of doi and scd over the years have been the deserving ones !!!!! any1 disagree who shouldnt have won
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:08 PM GMT
Gets a bit teary in parts :^0 . Worth sticking with tho.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:09 PM GMT

Report five leaves left December 5, 2009 10:10 PM GMT
Certainly others could have won, Austin or Gethin ;) for two, but I agree maiaze, all the winners have been good winners.

Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:13 PM GMT
Ideally the winner should be crowned via the progress that they show between the start and the finish, and the personality they show on the 'journey'

Richard Dunwoody is never going to beat Ali Bastian for dancing ability, however it is dressed up.
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg December 5, 2009 10:14 PM GMT
well tbf thats what the bbc try to do but its not easy in practice
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:14 PM GMT
lol anyone seen that bb market up with all the winners? Brian looks the value :)
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:14 PM GMT
you still don't think whoever gets Frankie has any chance?
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:15 PM GMT
They don't tho, they are marked on an equal basis. That gravy bird from the old days vs a 20 something. It's not a 'contest'
Report maiaze December 5, 2009 10:16 PM GMT
hahahhaa frankie the coffin box but saying that oppinions change i couldnt stand james jordan and brendan but now starting to like them more and wife hated ola but now she says she likes her

getting started at what, Cider?

You a night owl like FLL?
Report johnnyrant December 5, 2009 10:30 PM GMT
squares - have you made tidy profit on Ali - top female?
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:31 PM GMT
didn't really play on top female market so no. Wanted Ali to do best of the females OR anyway.
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:32 PM GMT
I am a night person, not playing online poker tho!
Sadly, the last few weeks Ive been watching the repeat of xf lol
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:32 PM GMT
fk, that's sad
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:32 PM GMT
at least FLL is nicking dosh off of donks
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:34 PM GMT
I find that I get a better opinion 2nd time round. Backed Stacey after watching the repeat a few weeks ago, after she drifted!
Report johnnyrant December 5, 2009 10:34 PM GMT
I've managed to win over 600 on Ali, top female (subtracting cover on Laila, Jade etc). Also have her on outright at 12s. Her and Chris my biggest 2 winners, so looking good. How's your book looking?
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:35 PM GMT
I agree that I find it a lot easier to watch and judge it later on, after all the furore so to speak, altho not really had time to do that over the past few weeks.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:35 PM GMT
I'm on Ali OR at 12/1.

Losing about 80 notes on TW market.
Report johnnyrant December 5, 2009 10:37 PM GMT
I also have spread on Chris - bought @8, latest quote 32-34...? Might take my profit cos still reckon he will get screwed next week. But will hold out in hope there's a last minute rule change!!!!
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:37 PM GMT
Not totally up to date as have so many markets and accounts but think Chris winning about 6-7K OR and another couple of K Top Man, Ali winning a couple of K and Ricky losing a couple of K. Also have Chris in a double with Joe , 205/1, to win just over 5K.
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:38 PM GMT
I backed against Ali for TW, Nat, Laila, Jade and Zoe. All good prices at the time imo, easy to forget Ali survived by a very small margin weeks ago.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:38 PM GMT
but I've backed Chris some more tonight and laid Ricky some more so will take a while to tally it all up.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:40 PM GMT
Think Ali was my only loser in TW market.
Report johnnyrant December 5, 2009 10:41 PM GMT
fantastic stuff squares - that's what it's all about. I've become virtually full-time at this too. Beats regular work :) Have made a steady income from it over last 5 years or so - pretty much since the advent of reality betting.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:42 PM GMT

Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg December 5, 2009 10:45 PM GMT
tbf at least 9-5ers meet other people
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:45 PM GMT
My situation is different to yous lot. I'm studying for a degree!. They actually pay for you to do so tho and I am online most of the time alongside to pay the bills. I was all horses until Tom's semi final last year, now I concentrate on specials.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:45 PM GMT
oi, i meet other people too
Report johnnyrant December 5, 2009 10:46 PM GMT
Are you happy to lay Whittle now for huge amounts? My one concern would be, if say Ali loses in dance off against Ricky next week, the vast gulf in class, and pleas of judges could turn it round for Ricky in final vs Chris. And if he's vs Ali, while I'd expect Ali to maintain her pv advantage, I wouldn't be totally confident.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:47 PM GMT
doubt i'll do any more laying. Was laying before the 2nd show tonight.
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:48 PM GMT
^ that was the time to lay.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:48 PM GMT
I found it really difficult with horses once I lost virtually all my accounts. Specials not quite so hard in that situation.
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:51 PM GMT
Did you play the percentages ?
I'll probably still play the flat as I'm quite good at picking out a good one, but I don't really lose at specials, so will concentrate on that.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:53 PM GMT
I worked on course for a lot of years and also did ew multis. Had a couple of exceptional years 2005/6 which phecked my accounts and drifted away from it since then.
Report johnnyrant December 5, 2009 10:57 PM GMT
I've had my accounts restricted/closed too squares - courtesy of Specials bets.
Report squares December 5, 2009 10:58 PM GMT

Report johnnyrant December 5, 2009 10:58 PM GMT
Cider - student days the best days of your life. And if you can fund your lifestyle through Specials betting, even better, I say :)
Report Cider December 5, 2009 10:59 PM GMT
Thought so your profile is pretty shrewd :)
Jimnast is a bookie that posts on the horses, top geezer, you know him?
I always feel it's good to lose with the books as well as win. However I haven't been blocked yet as never backed ew and always looked to balance losing with winning.

So anyway, now Ive caught up, well done all the Ricky/Laila backers.....was simplez IMHO.
