He did'nt really get much airtime being the1st show, apart from the gut...which was a big suprise, im sure he'll get a fair bit as the show goes on...major attraction in his day.

Can see it now, darkness all around....everyone sat around the camp fire, all talking about there biggest regrets...it gets to Jimmy and you can already see a droplet running down his face that glistens in the moonlight and he murmers......" stephen bl00dy hendry "

c'mon jimmy
Report stu November 16, 2009 8:25 AM GMT
If it was a bunch of gamblers, male sports watchers voting I'd say he should be about evens, but in reality with his likely tendancy to mope and generally look a bit saggy round the middle (and on top) I can't see he makes it in the eyes of this shows main viewers.
Report treble November 16, 2009 10:46 AM GMT
He's always been the housewives favourite as well. The only time my mum ever watched snooker was when Jimmy was playing.
Report stu November 16, 2009 10:56 AM GMT
Think that's a little bit of myth personally - ok some women will have watched him, and followed snooker, but not the majority.
Report stu November 16, 2009 10:57 AM GMT
Plus, theres also the 'disappointment factor' when your hero turns out to be so obviously middle-aged and fuddy etc. He can still win, but will have to show a bit more spirit and energy than looks like at present.
Report snooker backer November 16, 2009 12:33 PM GMT
Signing in, a tad disappointing at the start and my worry is that he gets bored very easily. I'd say the girl Benjamin is the one to fear.
Report snooker backer November 16, 2009 12:35 PM GMT
Don't think the fat (Biggins) or the hair (Blackburn) are a deciding factor though. He might just be a bit dull is all.
Report stu November 16, 2009 1:02 PM GMT
Yes, but Biggins was known for being fat - Jimmy is remembered as the little whippet who took the tables by storm.
Report SIR DEREK TROTTER November 16, 2009 1:40 PM GMT
i think he will be pretty quiet at the start but he will come good as the others start dropping like flies..
Report snooker backer November 16, 2009 2:32 PM GMT
I agree Derek to a point. It's never good to have too high a profile early on but he is actually quite shy and without any alcohol he might just not be enough of a personality, on the other hand he might end up losing four stone and being the nicest bloke there. I just hope those bl00dy decorators get thrown out soon as if they are there for much longer I won't be watching it anyway. Anyway the focus tonight is firmly on that moose Jordan so nobody else will get a look in.
Report Journeyman November 16, 2009 2:37 PM GMT
Jimmy always the bridesmaid. Exercise caution
Report no moves November 16, 2009 2:58 PM GMT
At his last matched price of 6.2 he looks very good value to me , its my belief that his price can only contract.

Todays odds could very easily look very substantial in a weeks time an excellent favourite in my opinion.
Report no moves November 16, 2009 3:25 PM GMT
Do you think that Jimmy White might show Jordan what a deep screw is?
Report ajchrisbro November 16, 2009 3:31 PM GMT
unlikely he cant see his tip to chalk it
Report Mealiff November 16, 2009 10:12 PM GMT
6.8---7.4

quite a spread appearing ;-)
Report stu November 17, 2009 7:19 AM GMT
Every selection has a price, and although he was a lay at 4.6ish he is now in the 6.6 range which would make him closer to a back - I actually thought he looked happier yesterday too. If he keeps up the positive outlook he will get more attractive as a selection.
Report Do it for Fred November 17, 2009 2:29 PM GMT
Stephen hendry said in an interview the other day that there is no way on earth jimmy whit will stick it out for 3 weeks, he said he has never seen anyone get bored so easily.
Report Mealiff November 18, 2009 5:52 PM GMT
quiet thread now
Report GeorgeBrush November 18, 2009 5:58 PM GMT
So what do we know so far? He's as fat as Ray Mears but not quite so happy in the jungle. More health complaints than George. He's quiet and boring expect when he's drunk when he's a total khunt. And he's a likely quitter.

10 looks good dunnit :-)
Report attitude adjuster November 18, 2009 6:00 PM GMT
still annihilates most of these in a public vote imo.
Report armagnac November 19, 2009 12:04 PM GMT
Jimmy not getting a look in as it turns into the Katie Price show, wish i'd waited before lumping on so early..looks a great price now as he is sure to be in the last 5 if he dont get bored and walk...which is a possibilty...but if he sticks it out i rekon he will eventually have a chance to shine as the others drop out.
Great price now to trade imo will almost surely go back into 6.0/7.0 at some stage, not looking a winner right now but maybe thats the game plan...sit back for the 1st week and let the **es ** before clearing the table to take the long awaited title.
Report armagnac November 19, 2009 12:07 PM GMT
10.5 right now, just for my reference.
Report GeorgeBrush November 19, 2009 12:13 PM GMT
I think the sitting back is more to do with general indolence and corpulence rather than any sort of game plan ;-)
Report sunshine1 November 19, 2009 12:38 PM GMT
Jimmy might be 147 hero to many in his sport, but unfortunately as far as charisma and personality are concerned outside snooker he'd struggle to make a break of 2 or 3. You frequent find trout on the slab at Morrisons with more go in them than Jimbo.
Report Mealiff November 19, 2009 1:47 PM GMT
live and soul of the party apparently between out takes ;-)

Report armagnac November 19, 2009 9:31 PM GMT
He's far from looking a winner i admit, but his price is most definetely got the best trade potensial, his time will come..then watch the price!
Cant believe i got the worst price possible otherwise i'd be topping right up...but went in to heavy from the start.
Report attitude adjuster November 19, 2009 9:39 PM GMT
the initial front 3 have done a great job in creating value on all the bigger guns imo.

silly not to have jimmy onside.

Jimmy isn't going to offend anyone, he's not going to say the wrong thing,
he can only get better as he warms up to his surroundings,
it is possible he could take this.
Report stu November 20, 2009 4:27 PM GMT
I was originally against him (at the shortest prices) but as he has seemingly stayed fairly positive, and with some pretty huge odds he certainly became a selection to have onside.

Report attitude adjuster November 30, 2009 11:45 AM GMT
agree maiaze

gino will be very short on the night
jimmy's the only cover required because he'll feature more now

you never know he could get the eating task or something.

he has been quiet but he's always been a people's champion :)
Report getlucky November 30, 2009 1:08 PM GMT
This is daft, I'll tell you now, Jimmy White is a bigger character than this Gino, plus the other 4 put together, and he has been stupidly edited out of it all so far. Now the field is just 6, and he already has enough supporters to keep him in for a couple more rounds, even with no exposure, he is the bet now. If he is there with just 4 left, he will get more TV time, and become a bigger and bigger hit. 12/1 with Betfred, fill your boots. Jimmy is a proper peoples hero.
Report maiaze November 30, 2009 2:25 PM GMT
most of the women ive talked too love gino and dont like jimmy they say hes really boring cant see that oppinion changing much in 4 days to be honest. Mens choice he probably is but housewives dont look past gino
Report stu November 30, 2009 2:30 PM GMT
Not in my house maiaze - she thinks Gino's a poser, and she's warming to Jimmy (slowly it must be said, but getting there).

He isn't doing as badly as he once was in terms of edit time, and the thinning field will only see his coverage increase. This could be a late stormer IMO.
Report chisel November 30, 2009 3:34 PM GMT
Worried about Jimmy tonight.

George was always too cool to be the Stephen Hendry in all this. Instead, it's going to a similarly annoying person called Gino that ruins Jimmy's chances.
