Too much careless stuff from Brecel culminating with the poor position not to end behind the black, and then trying the idiotic double. You look at him and wonder how he got through two weeks at the Crucible. It must have had a fair bit to do with the lack of expectation. Wouldn't surprise if he got dumped first round this year. As for this match up until the closing stages O'Donnell made the most of the chances he was given, and was the deserved winner. Great tournament for the bookmakers who will now have a guy favourite who has really struggled to win in recent years.

O'Sullivan must be laughing seeing this,all the best players are totally gone for the season and he's sitting in the studio feet up,the WC is looking a walkover unless someone suddely hits form..But i've been saying that all season,must be the weakest season of snooker i've seen in years,absolute trash.

Fair play, that's very impressive given his wobbles of yesterday.
I wasn't too fussed about who won that match, but I changed my mind when Slessor said afterwards that he was 'useless' despite only losing 6-5. A quote seemingly lifted out of the O'Sullivan book, although he usually says that sort of thing after winning. By all means you can think that, but don't say it as it so obviously belittles the opponent.

Wilson played like a god at times yesterday, and McConnell seems to have had transplant in ability for some reason. Odd but good.

From betting angle, I've had a fair one on Wilson to take this down now.
His opponent has of course done well to get here, but nosebleed time in his first final is likely I'd say. At least a big ask against a player as good as Gary currently.
I'd make Wilson more like 1.22-1.24 type of price myself - so had to have a tickle at well over 1.35+ he's available at.

Another big chance goes by for Higgins. I think he was flattered to finish so close. Had Wilson just played safe with that 50+ lead it could easily have been over a lot quicker.

not had much chance to watch this week but how has O'Donnell made a final ? has he actually played well ? ...GL to him if he has..I don't warm to Gary Wilson I'm afraid...might have to dig out John Campbell at the crucible on youtube...

By his usual standards, he's played really well, TBF, mate. Granted he's had quite a favourable passage.... Wakelin, Sheriff, Marco, Brecel (who has been better this week), Slessor.... He's been scoring much better than usual since Xmas. Whether it should have been enough to have got him to a final...? Probably says as much about the rest of the field as anything....

decent interview from Wilson to be fair...with still the lack of consistency in the under 40's (who'd have believed that a phrase 30 years ago) has chances on the tour going forward..
Great to see 2 players in a final who appreciate being there. Interviews were excellent unlike some of the cringe worthy stuff from certain other(s)
Think the final bet on Wilson was great value really - so very likely that O'Donnell was going to get stage fright to some degree and Wilson playing great.

I know he lost but o donnell is a class player. Lots of improvement to come. Very smooth in the balls.

Wilson wasn't flattered to win by that score. I think at times he got dragged down to O'Donnell's level. O'Donnell had no fluency whatsoever, and far too many awful misses.
