Missed this the other day, but the provisional calendar is out already.  Will doubtless change a bit along the way (presumably there's some more China to come in March, assuming the first three pre-Xmas events go off without hitch)

As I pondered, WST has increased the cut-off from the 2022/23 season to spot #68 on the two-year list, meaning those down to and including Dark Mavis survive:

Wednesday 3 May 2023 05:45PM
WST announce that for this season only, up to 68 players will qualify for the 2023/24 season based on the two-year world rankings after the 2023 Cazoo World Championship rather than the usual 64.

This step will see all players on the two-year world rankings up to Mark Davis (but no lower than him in the world rankings), set to finish the season in 68th position, qualify for a further year on the World Snooker Tour, retaining all of the points that they had accrued over the past two years.

The move will also result in some changes to the players re-qualifying as the top players on the one-year list with Xu Si and Mark Joyce now qualifying for a full tour card. The one-year list will now be made up of Daniel Wells, Jimmy White, Ian Burns and Hammad Miah, the four highest ranked players on the one-year list who haven’t qualified for the tour through other means, and these four players will receive two-year tour cards.

The decision to extend tour numbers up to 68 players was taken by WST due to highly unusual circumstances where some players who remain on tour at the end of the season are currently suspended pending the outcome of an independent tribunal.

WST is not involved in these cases, neither is it a party to the tribunal and has no influence upon it.

The decision to extend numbers was taken by WST so that no player might suffer missing out on a Tour Card irrespective of any outcome in those disciplinary proceedings and to maximise playing opportunities on the World Snooker Tour. This extension will apply to this season only.

Updated calendar with, frankly, not many updates. Still floating the possibility of extra tournament(s) in that critical mid-Spring slot but have to believe it when we see it, i think.

What is really concerning is the lack of sponsors - Cazoo and Bet Victor appear to be the lot though i assume the restored Chinese events will be covered. Cazoo listed for British Open and Worlds but not for others so does that mean UK Champs and Masters are currently without a sponsor? Perhaps its just an oversight by whoever put the calendar together, alarming trend if not.

Apologies, updated calendar here

Hi mate, Hope you're well and enjoying a break from it?  I know I have been!  Still struggling to get my head around Luca Brecel being WC, FFS!  Crazy

Just thought I'd take a cursory look at next week's CL(R) offering, and I see on actual TV it's on a channel I've never even heard of (Viaplay Xtra), which I, at first glance, assumed to be a subscription channel (Viaplay 1 and 2 are about £15 a month).  It's not a format that's good for betting anyway, but the fact it's on TV means I might take a cursory look at some point.

Viaplay have shown at least one previous champs League round - I think it was last season but can't remember exactly.

Scrap that! am getting mixed up with Freesports Plain  - Viaplay showed some minor T20 League games..
Report Gin June 22, 2023 3:20 PM BST
Okay, i've been getting confused with this oneSilly

Viaplay used to be Freesports before being re-branded. Looking back at my records, Champs League Snooker was definitely shown on Freesports in Jan/Feb 2021 and 2022.
Report brentford June 25, 2023 5:06 PM BST
yep, Viaplay took over Premier (UK only) but as you say Freesports (part of Premier) showed CL quite a lot..

Are these matches best of 4? Looking at the markets they are but the score strip on the TV suggests best of 9?!
Report Gin June 26, 2023 12:39 PM BST
Just to top things off, my Flashscore app says it's best of 5!Laugh
Report Gin June 26, 2023 12:43 PM BST
Best of 4

Report Gutless Wonder June 26, 2023 12:53 PM BST

Report Gin June 26, 2023 2:06 PM BST
Am not sure why there's no BF Live Video but it is available on 365 website (and on Viaplay channel on TV of course).

It looks like Viaplay are pulling out of the UK in the near future....................
