Maguire & Hamilton criticism of snooker tour

It's a conversation we've had on here many times before.  This time of year is always a bit tough for the players down the lists because so many of the tournaments between Xmas and the WC are for the Top 16s or Top 8s (lists varying).  The loss of Turkey and there being no Gibraltar this year has made it look a million times worse.

That said, WST did announce the WST Classic yesterday to replace the Turkish.  128-man ranking event, BO7s to the QFs.

It does make me laugh a bit, though, when you see comments from Mags, who should be looking at the example Tubbs has been setting and thinking "that could be me, if I got up off my lazy ass and tried to shift a bit of timber".....

The Tour is what you make of it. if you're talented then it might be an idea to look after yourself, practice regularly, exercise etc so that you get the best out of yourself. that way there's nothing left unknown

According to the WST website, the new comp runs from March 16-22nd but that's a Thursday - Wednesday?

Does seem slightly odd!  Dates are the same on both the press release and the calendar, so less likely to be a typo?  It does now sit equidistant between the end of the 6-Reds WC and the start of the Tour Champs, so maybe it's by design?
Turkish was due to start 13th (with Qs having already happened in the UK) and run to the 19th.

the tour was ruined by hearn with his ridiculous changes to the seeding system and his dumbing down of tournaments, i actually think the current boss is slowly putting things right but garbage like the shoot out doesn't help

No sign of the WST Classic being shown on the TV - I was hoping Eurosport might step in. It looks like being another non-tournament from a trading point of view........................

Slightly surprised Eurosport haven't snagged it either, mate, especially as they would have presumably been showing Turkey!   

Hopefully we get BFLV or it's another week of potential earning that I'll be sitting out!

It's hard to lend too much credence to either of these dudes, because they have both squandered far greater talent than is required to be a top snooker player, in both cases because of innate mental flaws. Hamilton should be careful what he wishes for, he can't play for oners so if there was more money in the game he'd have even more pound notes to be afraid of.
