Dont know are we getting any live feeds up on these lats? No markets up on exchange yet. Think there'll be a couple of shorties to take on. Ng On Yee hasnt really done it yet, but i still want to take the chance if i can get 6-7ish.
|

Morning John. Markets are now up, though no BFLV yet, we do usually get it for qualies, so fingers crossed!
Think the battle of the new boys, Thomerson v Mertens, is a potentially quite interesting match today. From what I've seen of Thomerson so far this season, he's not terrible, and Mertens made a couple of tons in the CL. He's quite a tall lad now. Thought Mertens would be a decent fav, but didn't think he'd be quite as short as he is. Think there's possibly some trading value in Zhao Jianbo, who outscores Page, but who sometimes struggles to get over the line. On main tour numbers so far, Chen looks a fair price to beat Mink. On last season's numbers, Hugill should be fav to be LMEY, but he's not replicated that (or anything close to it) so far this season. Fingers crossed we get some pics! Be lucky! |

Good stuff lats, not very snookery weather but some interesting matches there for sure. Wasnt sure bout live feed given its itv tournament but they're up now so all good.
Want to watch mink out of interest, just to see what kind of level to expect, saw Chen lose to Hill in the European last month and wasn't very ompressed at all, depends if he gets enough chances to win frames i suppose. Watched a lot of Mertens in the european championships a couple of months back and he was really really good, but always the question will he bring it to the next stage and he is plenty short. Dont know much about opponent, though. Page v Zhao is a real good one. I thought Page took a small step forward last season and maybe he's finally worked it out and can build on it. Zhao definitely has potential but when he lost to Aaron Hill in their tour card match at Q School, i thought he really crumbled under the pressure. Probably more a free go today as an amateur top up so no surprise to see him go close. If hendry pulling out of NIre is a sign he's not practising or game isnt in good shape, then doesn't augur well for a tough encounter with Zhang Anda so a small nibble at 4-0 there for interest. Will also keep an eye on Leclercq later, another belgian who can pot and score heavily. All seem like clones of Brecel these guys, which can be a bad as well as a good thing! |
By:
Zhao was 4-0 up on Jimmy R at the Euro qualies and lost, so yes, definitely finds it difficult to get over the line if he doesn't do it in the first couple of chances he gets!
I was a bit reluctant to put up such a short one, but Zhang absolutely should batter Hendry, even if Hendry has improved, IMHO! Xu should really be winning, too. |
By:
Oh sh!t yeah, forgot about the Jimmy R match. Clearly, the guy has got game but not one for undying faith! Far from alone in that category.
Zhang isnt that young tbh, but i never get impression these asian players give a fck about hendry or his reputation, they just go out and take him to pieces if he gives them the chances. Never really understood why he was bothering anyway but skipping the worlds was the end of it, like what's the point after that? Its only 7/2 for the whitewash and you know he'll probably snick a frame or even two, but fancy a cut at it anyway! |
By:
Feck me, Xu's making hard work of this!
|
By:
Bits i saw of it, Hain didnt leave him in too cheaply a lot. Just a steady eddie who might grind his way to an odd victory or two. Mink was quite frankly sub standard, poor of Chen to let her get 2 frames. Lot of improvement needed for her, including i think a lot more practice on star tables.
Hendry not bothering to play on needing a single snooker in F1, if he cant win in one visit, he's just not bothered. Just like the hendry of old! |
By:
Xu had a few really good chances and frankly made very little from them, mate. Several times he ended up clattering into another ball (usually a red) with the white when not having a go at something and leaving Xu in.
I didn't see much of the Mink game, but her scoring has been awful in the limit opportunities she's had so far. As we discussed at the time, mate, I honestly don't know why Hendry got gifted another two years when he did so little with the last one.... What is the point? |
By:
*"he" being Jain
|
By:
Fair enough mate, i didnt see a lot of that game tbh. I'll give mink a chance to bed in, but gonna need hours and hours in the academies to make this leap. She can beat Ng On Yee in the womens game, but latter probably has a better tactical side for this set up, at least gives her some chance of getting a few wins.
Hendry gets a frame up anyway, but yeah, i dont see the point. Personally, I'd have said that's it after not playing at Sheffield, that was pathetic, but didnt baz tell him he'd have a card for lifw basically, so maybe they have to honour that? |
By:
Thanks for coming, Stephen! I have no issues if he has a card with the intention of doing the best he can with it, but that patently isn't the case. At least Jimmy tries, and plays pretty much all of the tournaments he's eligible for. This is just silly!
|
By:
Yeah mate, i dont like the wcs, as we've discussed here many times, but at least jimmy gets every last drop out of his and continues to show a passion for the game, win or lose. And kendo too, tbf. I know hendry was always a miserable fcker, but looking at the puss on him there today, he's clearly not enjoying it and there's no magic button to be pushed so just give it up to fck mate. There was a bit of publicity value at the beginning, absolutely zero now.

100%

By:
Well done, Jianbo. A couple of head in hands moments, but always in control in the W.
|
By:
Thought he was goosed when he missed that brown in F5 tbh, good win for him.
Everytime i see Leclercq he seems to have grown about 3 inches, I'd swear I was looking at ricky walden from a distance! |
By:
Yeah, he really should have stolen there, mate. Wonder if in a bizarre kind of way, the dynamic of the match helped him?
I remember Leclercq beating Vahedi in the WC Qs and thinking he was huge then - both tall and wide. Doesn't look so stocky these days, so maybe he has gone up some more! |
By:
Not sure mate, but i do think murphy had a point last year when talking about the amateurs. He typically made it in an assholish way but i definitely think it's easier winning matches when you're not defending points, kind of like a free go. Not taking from jianbo at all, page didnt play that well and thats on him.
Thing about Leclercq, he's still 19 so doubt he's finished sprouting yet! Nice player to watch, same as mertens, not sure when it comes down to a battle how he'll hold up but potential top 16 for sure i think. |
By:
The same would have applied at the Euro Masters, though, wouldn't it?
Yeah, I like both of them. Be interesting to watch them progress. |
By:
Yeah very true, doesnt mean there still wont be pressure as the $€£ obviously very useful to these guys. But put it this way, if i was a tour player there are a lot of guys on tour I'd rather draw than a few of the top ups, like Zhao or Hallworth for eg. Like, hendry pulls out of N.Ire and Aaron Hill now gotta play Jianbo instead, thats not good news imo
|
By:
Agreed, mate.
Bit of a sad end for Leclercq there. Would have been tough to steal, but breaking down on pot #2.... |
By:
LMEY wins a black-ball W.
|
By:
Had to go out before end there, learning curve for the big fella i guess. Could take a while but do like look of him anyway.
First look at thomerson here, looks alright. Good to see new blood, sick of watching same old from year to year! |
By:
He's no world-beater, but he's not terrible either.
VERY poor performance from Highfield tonight. |
By:
Pretty decent, that, from Mertens.
|
By:
Yeah, was saying earlier about mertens at the european championships where he won his tour card, i think between u/18s, 21s and mens he played something like 26 matches and won 24, playing some pretty decent opposition. He was outstanding, remember being a bit surprised he only won the one title. Can look a bit casual at times though so far from the finished article, but one of the better kids around, no question about it.
|
By:
Blimey!
I'm not around until later today, somewhat annoyingly as I think the prices are the wrong way around in both the morning matches (Tian's best numbers are sightly better than Craigie's, Tian's average numbers are comfortably better than Craigie's, and Tian's numbers at the start of the season have been better than Craigie's, and similar applies for Lu over King, though there's clear daylight on all three numbers there). Lyu is bigger than I think he should be later, and I'd have Sanderson Lam as a decent fav over Chairhard. Burns is one of those players who seems to blow hot or cold, but he really should beat Adam Duffy, who I still don't think I've ever seen play anything even close to half decent. Catch you later, and be lucky! |
By:
Jesus, Lam has let Chairhard off the hook there. Breaks down on the green when in to steal for both 3-0 and 3-3....

Unlike yesterday where I had strong views on a few, I'm struggling to find any confident angles today.
On the face of it, Liang's return from his ban should be pretty straight forward (assuming he's used his time off wisely), though his opponent did look by far the best he ever has on tour in a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Shon at the Euros. A reproduction of that, if Liang's not on his game, could see him go close, but it's a very speculative one. I still think Ng On Yee remains the best prospect of the ladies, but she seemed to get worse after notching her first win against Wu Yize. Her scoring at this start of this season has been terrible, but she has had some difficult encounters, in her defence. KenDo's scoring this season has been even worse, also in the face of some decent opposition. KenDo should win, but he's short enough to do so. Theppy v Croup, remarkably, the two have never met! Their numbers are very similar across their careers, but it was noted by the forum (I didn't see it) just how badly Croup had played in his first match of the season, so any sign he's off form still could be a signal to jump on Theppy. Craig Steadman would probably be my strongest fancy of the day to dispatch Judge, at a vaguely respectable price, which probably tells you all you need to know about today's schedule! Be lucky! |
By:
Morning mate, sounds like good day yesterday, spent it getting frazzled on golf course so didnt see much of it. Doesnt look a very appetising card today. Could take yuan and liang on for pennies i suppose but hard to muster faith in kazakov or young who hasnt shown a lot so far. If liang stinks it out, you never know, but no real desire to pay to find out! Ng On Yee has won and been close a couple of times and I'm on her to win and with 2.5 start. If she's tidy and avoids the basic errors, i dont yhink ken has the level anymore to blow her away so could be tight at least!
|
By:
Hello, mate. Decent day on paper that didn't really transpire in reality on account of missing the first three winners (well, Lyu had already traded at 1.01 by the time I arrived)
Liang certainly hasn't started well. Still time to turn it around though, and Bubba is needing a few chances each frames. Yeah, I doubt Ken will blow Ng away. GL with your plays anyway. Zapper breakdown #1 recorded for the day. |
By:
2-0 Bubba
|
By:
3-1 Bubba
|
By:
Really good chance for a 4-1 kill blown concerningly early on by Bubba. 3-2
|
By:
Not without nerves, but Bubba gets it done! 4-2!
|
By:
Fair play to him. Not sure what went on there with wenbo approaching ref while young at table? Thought young had fouled for a second. Nice flash of temper from liang at the end too, hopefully got it all out of his system
|
By:
I wasn't too sure either. Young looked gutted for a split second as he walked back to his seat. I can only think it was a question of whether the pink or black (not sure which he'd taken in all honesty) would spot. Humphreys said no and Liang questioned it, I think.
|
By:
Ah yeah, probably right. Not a lot in it but unusual to see a player get out of his seat like that. Would he do that against ronnie, i wonder? Young did right thing and left liang and ref at it.
|
By:
Nice steal there, mate! Lovely development of the pink!
|
By:
Nice one on P1 of the bet, mate!
