Starts 0830 Thursday. Quite a different format to most tournaments in that the two halves of the draw play their first three rounds of matches all on the same day, either Thursday or Friday. Winner crowned Saturday night. BO7s.
The general standard today has been as bad as I've ever seen. Granted, the pockets do look to have played tighter than usual, but most of the misses were never even threatening the hole.

Physio appointment first thing, so missed a chunk of the first tranche of matches today.
JB through 4-2 over Davy, Ryno through 4-2 over Ng, 2-2 Perry v Fernandez, 1-0 2Pt over Dark.

In BF's defence, usually if you point out missing matches to them via Live Chat, they will add them. Most likely just an oversight.

Jimmy R gets a bit lucky in missing the brown, fluking a snooker on the brown, which JB ended up hitting but leaving on. JB out, 4-2 Jimmy R.
4-1 Ford, 3-1 Tubbs.

Have to confess not followed this tournament at all and only just seen the result but delighted for Rob anyway. Should have done a hell of a lot better with ability he has, but he's a good bloke so happy for him tonight. Trust he'll keep celebrations low key this time!

The format means it's not the easiest tournament to follow, mate. Must admit, I knew his scoring was well down, but I'd not realised he'd only won 3 matches (other than ranking CL) all season prior to this week!
He played some good stuff. His break to complete the comeback from 3-1 down v Tubbs really was excellent. And he was much the best player in the final, it was just a question of whether he could get it done or not. It really was looking doubtful for a while.
Those final two matches from Kyren, though, he showed a weakness we've not seen for a while. I wonder if he might have played better if the SF and final had been on different days (no time to process getting away with it after so blatantly falling apart) or if this is an issue he's going to struggle with for a bit? If you've got pretensions of going deep at the Crucible, that's not going to do you much good...

Cheers for the link lats. Funny, i posted a link here a few months back to a tweet in which rob was moaning about all the hard draws he had been getting, but truth was he'd been losing to a few lower ranked guys too. I don't want to be too hard on him, it's a fcking brutal sport mentally, as we all know.
Was inclined to not make too much about Kyren but when you see his tour champs spot was on the line, that's a bit of a fail. Hard guy to sum up. When you think he might be getting there, he goes and takes a step back!
I've followed Rob for years on twitter, always gives great insights to stuff happening on tour, like expenses and logistical nightmares they endure while travelling. One of the real good guys, chuffed for him.

I remember you saying about that Tweet, not you come to mention it, mate. Must admit, I don't do Twitter.
Oh, make no bones about it, mate, the enormity of the situation 100% got to Kyren on Saturday. Ricky really should have put him away (more than once in the final frame), but his own situation was arguably even greater - they reckoned it would have been worth £250k to him to win the thing with bonuses and automatic qualification for other events.
I honestly have no idea who I fancy for the big one. There's not a single player who's playing consistently well.

Don't actually post on the twitter myself, complete waste of time, just keep in touch with a few of the players worth listening to, like rob and 1 or 2 others though i think world snooker has them well on the leash as regards saying stuff that's controversial tbh.
With you on the worlds, seems to get worse by the year in terms of the number of question marks against the top players. Will end up the usual, oh isn't MJW a bit big at 40s when you know deep down there's no way he should be in contention for the ultimate prize at this stage of his career!
