I wish the players would make more if an effort in this area. Back in the day we had Alex, Jimmy, T Knowles and Steve James.
Definitely a 'development area ' for today's top stars...
We need to throw the the tabloids some meat to get the game back to what it was ;)

Remember the S.African guy taking a wedge out of his top pocket and giving it the ref!

It would have choked a donkey.

I once saw Cliff Wilson eating a pastie with the common folk at Chepstow races. A quick call from me to the newsroom of the South Wales Argus and it was front page news for the next week, complete with courtroom artist's impression of it.

Unquestionably my finest moment.

BTW.... this crazy snooker memoir is available on KIndle for just 99p and I can recommend it if you want an undemanding quick read that will have you shaking your head in disbelief at some of the antics.

Silvino Francisco was that man Happy

Report Latalomne April 29, 2021 7:56 AM BST
Francisco suffered with gambling problems towards the end of his professional career, to the extent of being declared bankrupt in 1996 due to income tax arrears, having split up from his second wife who claimed his £350,000 house, and having to pay maintenance for his four children. He later took to working evenings in a friend's fish and chip shop for extra cash.

In 1997, he was arrested for smuggling cannabis, and served three years in prison.[4]

I bet Willie Thorne got him in to gambling.

Silvinos nephew Peter was a much more wholesome character, only ever indulged in the odd bit of matchfixing here and there.

"Snooker star Murphy turns to SATANISM to win semi"  Dark forces invoked by former world champ before key crucible clash.
That's the kind of headline...

I think you are reading too much into the "burn, baby burn" walk out tune there CCD - but it's a fair shout - He has tried God and that's not working out great for him - the dark side is surely worth a go imo.

Ha! Well it's clearly working for him atm if he has!
