This is the tournament I usually look forward to most apart from The Crucible, but with all qualifiers now being best-of-11 instead of best-of-19 until "Judgement Day", and limiting the matches to 4 per session, I'll probably just dip in and out until the final round. It's scarcely believable - all year, we have had match after match after match on multiple tables - and yet, for the 1 event that might actually suit this format - we have 4 matches in play only! How on earth can most of these qualifiers be reduced to one session, and yet it takes 10 days to complete them? The Hearn regime will cite COVID, as the reason, although it doesn't appear to have been a consideration during the staple 7-day, 128-man ranking events. The highlight of R1 being tonight's clash of the undeserved wild-cards. That said, I'll probably watch it Confused

It's a fcking disgrace, two old geriatric has beens, making fools of themselves, propped up my their mate bazza. Am rather quite looking forward to it!

First time in years i just done myself a small fun yankee, on qualifier outrights: Jak Jones 6/1, Jamie Jones 21/10, Robbie Williams 9/2, Pang Junxu 15/2. Do well if i got 2 of em.

Two i think could be small bit of value. Fergal 0'Brien at 20/1 who can be a tough nut to crack in these big matches. And for a fella who made it last year, i thought 33s on Ashley Carty was alright.

I dare say I'll be having a few quid on Hendry, the other that has lured me in is Jamie Wilson, he's not exactly set the world alight since turning pro and infamously missed a red with ball in hand at the Shoot outLaugh, but Barry looks very ragged these days, so I've sided with the youngster at the prices.

Jimmy beat him 4-2 in seniors last year i think, but with guts of a years hard graft behind him, you'd have to think it's going to be closer than that. Looks 50-50 to me so price on hrndry seems more than fair.

Granted we are guessing a little bit with Hendry still, but I also think 11/8 is more than fair.  7/4 would be way too big, IMHO.

It could be a long afternoon, Barry looking and cueing like the club drunk, who'll need several chances to win frames, Wilson looking like he may well gift Barry those chances.

I don't think I have ever seen such poor snooker on television as this pair.  I might be tempted to take it up if this is the new standard, and the last time I played Maggie was PM... Plain

jimmy might not be very good but hendry is worse we shall see its about opinions at least jimmy can still get over 100 breaks in practice not like a former world champ

Cheers Lat, lad relaxed and played ok after the first couple, but I'd be in no rush to back him in the next roundLaugh, Barry still clearly loves them game and if he can make a living at it, fair play, but that can't have felt good.

Haha, that's spot on! I'll be watching, and I have no idea who I'd prefer to win, and I can't work out what the odds should be given Hendry's inactivity. Maybe Bazza could add an edge to it - the loser only gets another guaranteed 10 years on the tour.

Hell of a shout that Richard, you don't get too many of them. A great start to a month of almost wall-to-wall action.
